The left facade is inspired by those you can find in Schaerbeek, on the Louis Bertrand Avenue near the Josaphat Park (one of the most beautiful neighborhood of Brussels). The right facade is more "30's style".

"Sommes-nous à Bruxelles?" (Are we in Bruxelles? note : "Bruxelles" is the French spelling for Brussels)

"Of zijn we in Brussel?" (Or are we in Brussel? note "Brussel" is the Dutch spelling for Brussels)

Note for the non-Belgian : this is an eyeblink to the Belgian liguistic problem. Brussels being the capital of Belgium, located in Flanders but with a huge majority of francophones. The joke here was to replace the traditionnal color of the traffic lights in Brussel and Wallonia - red and white - by the color used in Flanders - black and yellow.

Don't you think that this facade needs to be repainted?

Good job! I really like your work - especially those two narrow mosaic cheese-slope windows - and the idea to have the painters freshen up the building is great. I must admit that my first thought when I saw that first picture, was "this guy could use a couple of new white bricks" :D

Excellent painting scene! Great use of those cloth pieces for the cover and nice brickbuilt scaffolding also. And this is not even the best part of the build IMO since the other building and the vehicles are very well done creations by themselves too. Simply a fantastic job Ezechielle!

VERY good job Ezechielle! The buildings are really beautiful, the cars are great especially the construction pickup. The rollers for paint are great and look very realistic. The little trash can I have seen before but I always love it! :sweet:

Both facades are excellent. I really like using the ice skates as an architectural element on the traditional building, but the sequence transforming the modern one from old and yellowed to shiny and new is simply brilliant!

Thanks everyone! And thanks to Classic-Town for blogging my MOC

Excellent creation. I just love the building renovation scene... I always feel that scenes like that capture the true life of a real city.

The various techniques used to provide detail to the buildings are also well done. Being from Canada I've only visited Brussels once, but this do seem familiar!

great work

A very nice moc.

I love the houses! :thumbup::classic:

BTW. (tussen twee haakjes) The good word is Dutch, not Deutch, which sounds more like the sound of Germans in German. To make it more difficult for people not knowing Belgium, there are even people in Belgium who speak German.

Having lived in Brussels for a short time, I very much like that scene. It really combines some of the architectural traits of the city. (You might want to add a faceless slap of concrete as a third building though ;) )

It's also very nice how you are using the model to tell a little story and breathe some life into the scene!

Nice work- I haven't explored Brussels (apart from the Eurostar station) but does look typical of Belgian architecture that I saw when I was staying near Ostend.

Funny thing about the language- if you are in a Flemish part of Belgium and you don't speak Dutch, people are only too pleased to help you with information. If you speak schoolboy French however (I hadn't spoken French for over 25 years when I went there) and request information from a French-speaking Belgian they absolutely don't want to know.

Good job, Ezechielle! The buildings are excellent, and the scaffolding idea was brilliant. I also like how you changed the minifigs, as though some time had passed. Well done, and thanks for sharing!

Wow! Thanks everyone for commenting my creation!

LEGO Train 12 Volts: I didn't even knwo that this door was a rare part! I've had in when I was just a child (don't remember in which set though)

Legoless: as a francophone myself I've never had the problem - of course - so I can't say. But in general, I feel like Belgians are quite friendly people (in both regions). But that's true : each time I speak with a Flemsih, even if I start to speak Dutch, he/she will answer in French.

In some way, I would not be astonished by what you say because most of the francophones (frome any country) feel like French is a very important language, and thus barely speak another language (like many Spanish or English-speaking people).

Odyssey: haha! True! Brussels is a weird city where you can see awful concrete buildings built next to a beautiful monument! But in some way, I like my town like that

Wout: you are right! I corrected it
