Redcross Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I have a large building MOC that calls for some banners hanging out the front. These banners will have pictures on them. How do people feel about printed decals on material. This process is widely used when making ship sails. Or should I be more traditional and put stickers on tiles or print them out on paper alone. Part of my problem is that they need to be about 20cm long. I guess it is about tradition versus realism. I need your opinions thanks Quote
JopieK Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 well, I always use stickers, but try to mimick the LEGO one's as much as possible. Vinyl stickers are removable without sticking residue (although those paper ones often do leave traces of glue). Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Stickers all the way 'redcross', anyway would you expect I, LT to say any different ! Though 20cm is quite long and the photo stickers I use stop at 6 inches or approx. 15cm, so joining or shrinking down to that size might have to do. Good luck and K.O.B. 'redcross' ! Quote
MetroiD Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Those sail-style printed decals sound really interesting. I'd try that first if I were you. Quote
mikey Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I think that if you are already creating your own graphics then you don't need to consider the whole 'purism' debate. Printing them onto material sounds like it would look good. Quote
brickmack Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I'd just try putting the printing on normal fabric. That should work well. Quote
Fuzzylegobricks Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 If you can print the normal fabric then I say do it. Quote
-zenn Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I'd say printed fabric. it's used in real world, so why not the lego world. Quote
frogstudio Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 I'd print them on acetate, similar to the ninja flags... That way it would still be "relatively pure:...:) Quote
