hoeij Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I want to use my Maersk engine to pull about 8 train cars, so it'll need two motors, but I can't make up my mind between these two options: A) Two 9V train motors B) One 9V and one PF motor (electrically connected with extension wire 8886). The advantage of B is that the PF motor is perhaps a little bit stronger than the 9V motor (and cheaper too). A small drawback is that it'll make the front and rear wheels of the engine look different, wheels with metal on one truck but not on the other. But perhaps there are some other reasons to pick one option over the other? What would you do? Quote
JopieK Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 (edited) Unnecessary quote of entire post removed by moderator -TheBrickster. Ludo Soete of BeLUG has contact with a guy that can make metal wheels of aluminum so that looks about the same as the old 9V motor. Edited April 14, 2011 by TheBrickster Quoting entire post Quote
roamingstop Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 (edited) The disadvantage of B is that the two motors have different gearing ratios and may not be providing the same torque for the same control voltage.... Check the specs on Philo-Home page. Edited April 14, 2011 by roamingstudio Quote

Check the specs on Philo-Home page. I looked at that webpage, and it showed that at the same voltage, the two motors have a very similar RPM. Quote
