Vindicare Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 I didn't want to hijack the PQ thread with this question... If PQ was to continue, but in different locations like the Adventurers did, where would you like to see them? Remakes of the old? New locations, where? Quote
Gregorovich Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 There's already a thread for this, but I can't seem to find it. Anyway, I would love to see a return of the Orient Expedition, but it could be called, for example, Oriental Quest or something. I'd love to see big Asian temples, filled with traps and secrets, with lovely details. I'd also love a Jungle/Amazonian theme, with booby-trapped pyramids, secret temples and lots of plants and trees. I sadly missed out on this theme, so I'd love to get another chance to have sets like them. Quote
Scorpiox Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 A kind of Aztec jungle, filled with booby-trapped pyrimids and cut-throat natives. It would be nice to see a re-make of Islanders but with a variety of face-paints and torsos. New moulds could include club-swords and feathered standards that fit onto minifig's backs. There could be giant spiders and snakes and monstrous crocodiles! Quote
Peppermint_M Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Well, I can't find the earlier thread, something must have nixed it or I am looking for the wrong title. As it stands I will leave this until such a time as I find the actual one (maybe the thread starter for the earlier one might notice and help). Quote
Algernon Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 I'd like to see another Orient Expedition type of theme. But really, I just want to see the Adventurers throwback continue, I'm not too picky about the locales. Quote
Aanchir Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 A jungle adventure would probably be the next decision. I say this not because Adventurers went there (I see no reason why an imaginative homage to the Adventurers theme ought to devolve into a complete repeat of that theme), but because jungles are another classic adventure story setting. A mountain location like the Himalayas portion of Orient Expedition would also be nice, although unlike in the case of Pharaoh's Quest there isn't much in the way of "supernatural horror" in the mythology associated with that location. The arctic is also a classic adventure setting, but is even less suited to the genre of Pharaoh's Quest than a mountain location. Quote

With a previous South American jungle sets from Adventures and Indiana Jones, I wonder about jungles elsewhere in the world. Southeast Asia might be an interesting location as you could combine the natural jungle elements with very cool ruins ripe for exploring a la Orient Expedition. Angkor Wat type structures and abandoned Buddhist Temple type structures would be pretty neat in 'taken back by nature' sort of way. Quote
Oky Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Well, I can't find the earlier thread, something must have nixed it or I am looking for the wrong title. It's right here, only 1 1/2 pages ago. Quote

Trying to stop the crew from stealing from them... A la "The Mummy 3", except they want to hurt instead of help. Quote
Oky Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Yeti's Quest FTW! Seriously, this could work, and we could use a new yeti. Quote
Gregorovich Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 (edited) Well, I can't find the earlier thread, something must have nixed it or I am looking for the wrong title. As it stands I will leave this until such a time as I find the actual one (maybe the thread starter for the earlier one might notice and help). I was looking through all the topics I've made, and it turns out that I made a similar thread a while ago. I don't know if the one I made is the original one, but it could be. EDIT: Sorry, I didn't notice Oky Wan Kenobi had already posted the link. Edited April 12, 2011 by Gregorovich Quote
Peppermint_M Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Ok guys, here is the plan. I will lock one or the other. A merge is pointless as the same people have posted the same replies in both. I can also retitle whichever I leave open, to clue us in on the subject and make it easier to find. (My pre-coffee brain couldn't make the connection that Adventure could also cover PQ). So, which do we keep? Any ideas for the best thread title? Quote
Oky Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 I'd say keep the old thread. As you said, this thread is mostly comprised of repostings from the other thread, and the title of the old thread was better too IMO. Quote
