lightningtiger Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Gap filling I'm getting good at, so right now it's still a W-I-P.....feel free to comment and suggest ! K.O.B. everyone and watch out for the next update ! Quote
AussieJimbo Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 (edited) Nice one again, LT. In fact, it's prompted me to look up a photo of an old, long departed tyre shop near where I grew up. Sizing it up for a MOC of my own now. :classic: Edited April 9, 2011 by AussieJimbo Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 9, 2011 Author Posted April 9, 2011 Thanks 'AJ', more detailing to be done plus the roller door to completed. Oh and good luck 'AJ' with your tyre dealer MOC ! K.O.B. Everyone ! Quote
TanTile Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 cute looking Tyre store LT i saw one of these on the road just the other day and now that you have done this store i think one of these would look awesome parked out the front! Quote
Man with a hat Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 That's a nice little tyre dealer. I like it. Are you going to put in a garage lift or jacks? I guess you need some tools to change the tyres as well. Quote
AussieJimbo Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Oh and good luck 'AJ' with your tyre dealer MOC ! Shopfront and "special feature" completed. Working on some stickers now. Look out for it soon. Keep on buying tyres. :classic: Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 9, 2011 Author Posted April 9, 2011 Thanks for the response everyone, now the Bridgestone was scrapped months ago....dog sat on it ! Also I needed a 16 wide building to fill the gap I made by making the town just that little bit bigger ! Tools for changing tyres are hanging on a post by the wheel balancer.....oh, wait you can't see them ! That's better now you can see the tools and also the tyre racks as well ! What's left to do on this - some blue tiles on top, a computer terminal, 4 more blue roller door pieces and a custom minifig tyre fitter/store manager....might even make it a female one don't know yet. And remember keep on watching and K.O.B. ! Shopfront and "special feature" completed. Working on some stickers now. Look out for it soon. Keep on buying tyres. :classic: Cool, 'AJ' what brand store is it going to be ? K.O.B. ! Quote
AussieJimbo Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 (edited) Cool, 'AJ' what brand store is it going to be ? Well in the 60's (before I was born) it was called Sinden Tyre & Rubber Company which sounds a bit grand but I'm pretty sure it was just a tyre place. The only pic I've been able to track down isn't clear enough to show what brand of tyres were on offer so I'll have to improvise. I'm having a bit of trouble tracking down an image of that old round yellow authorised inspection station sign. Do you know the one I mean? Any pointers to tyre company logos and other signs of the period would be welcome too. :classic: Oh and those tyre racks and accessories look great. I'm sure I'll be using some of your ideas when I get to the interior. :classic: Edited April 9, 2011 by AussieJimbo Quote

lightningtiger Posted April 9, 2011 Author Posted April 9, 2011 Off to a great start, 'Lt' Great company and tire too, I have four myself Can't wait to see more progress! Thanks 'Leg Godt Gud' for your kind words, I choose this brand due to the parts I had handy and it all just seem to click into place. Keep on watching and always K.O.B. ! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 I know what you mean about available colors. It's definitely working for you, and man did you get to work on this with the quickness! Quote
AussieJimbo Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Knew I made it too easy to google. ;-) I'm just about ready to shoot that scene but it's getting a bit late. :classic: Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 9, 2011 Author Posted April 9, 2011 Yeah, well I try and create on the run, have whole MOC's done in days ! 'AJ' it appears that company still operates, contact them to see if they can help you in anyway. Keep watching everyone by Monday night my time that is - this MOC will be complete ! Quote
AussieJimbo Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 'AJ' it appears that company still operates, contact them to see if they can help you in anyway. Cool, I'll have to look into that. Yeah, well I try and create on the run, have whole MOC's done in days ! That's what I've been doing this evening. Your MOC triggered a memory and a search for a photo and now I'm looking at a fair approximation on my coffee table in front of me. Isn't Lego great. :classic: Quote
Fuzzylegobricks Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Great start LT! I like the huge tyre out front, the interior is nice too, but where will the workers get their coffee? Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 9, 2011 Author Posted April 9, 2011 Thanks 'Fuzzy' for your kind comments and you are right - coffee and more to the fact Farmers Union Iced Coffee....any tradies favorite ! ......where ? Dam no time or room to add a coffee shop/bakery.....wait, room ? Time might be my only problem. Stay tuned in, the wheels are turning inside my head ! K.O.B. ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 9, 2011 Author Posted April 9, 2011 Quick update time. Question......should the roller door stay as is or just be all blue/white bottom piece without the trans-blue parts to the door ? K.O.B. everyone ! Neat! Thank you. K.O.B. ! Quote
AussieJimbo Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 I'd say keep the trans blue parts in the roller door. Gives you a glimpse of the interesting things inside. :classic: Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 This Tyre Dealer shop is looking great LT! I love the overall 'blue-goodness' of this establishment. The use of that huge tire piece is really an effective advertising tool - (in deep voice) TIRES anyone? Great work! Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 10, 2011 Author Posted April 10, 2011 Thanks 'KielDaMan' and again 'AJ' for your kind comments, etc., I'll leave the roller door as it is, which means only a computer to make and a custom minifig.....easy ! Keep on watching everyone and K.O.B. ! Quote
Out of Sight Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 (edited) Very nice, but why not make a more local tire dealer..like Bob Jane Tmart? All you need is some yellow and red bricks. Err...just a thought though. Nevertheless, this MOC is VERY nice..Just wondering though, where do they store that big tire up front, does it even fit the store? Edited April 10, 2011 by Out of Sight Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 10, 2011 Author Posted April 10, 2011 Thanks for the comments 'Out of Sight', there is a second reason why I choose Michelin....an international brand name, more people would show an interest in this design if it had a global name on it. If I was doing a city MOC, then a Bob Jane T-Mart would be done, but my is a small country town and the space available was 16 wide. Now the heavy tractor tyre out the front, well that just got delivered ! K.O.B. Everyone ! Quote
