Demolisher 2 Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 The massive UCS star destroyer, coupled with the smaller playset, with the largest pricepoint EVER for a lego set. Is it a good thing that these two radically different sets should be coupled, especially being in two different categories? Why do you feel lego has done this? This gargantuan collectionwill have 4500 pieces, the most ever for any lego set. And who knows, if they release a deathstar playset, could it be coupled with the UCS version to make the most collosal lego pricepoint and piece count ever? Discuss K10030 here. Quote
sam89 Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Here's a link: http://shop.lego.com/product.asp?p=K10030&cn=4&d=5&t=3 I do wonder if anyone will actually buy this. Is their a market for buying two different versions of the same ship, for such a high price point? I guess we'll see. Quote
captaintau Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 I could understand it if say you got a UCS Executor and System ISD. They they'd be something like to scale. Otherwise, I see who'd buy them Quote
Beagle Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Holy cow, at first I thought you were just PROPOSING such a set... I can't believe they actually DID this. Seems like there would be a pretty limited number of people out there who would (or could) go for this set. Perhaps it would work as a gigantic parts pack, but it seems that there are cheaper ways of getting parts. Are the old UCS Star Destroyers being released in new grey now? If so, maybe they figure people will combine these two sets and make an even bigger minifig-scale playset (actually that would be kind of neat if they included instructions to combine the sets in a way that would result in an AWESOME SD playset). But still, this seems like a strange choice to me. Maybe they've got UCS SD's that are clogging up the shelves, and are trying to find new, creative ways to get them to move. They should have included a mini Star Destroyer as well. :-D Quote
snefroe Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 i don't get it. *wacko* the collection costs 500 euro, but the seperate sets are 370 euro and 125 euro, so you're even better off buying the two sets seperately Quote
Demolisher 2 Posted June 30, 2006 Author Posted June 30, 2006 Yes, the old 10030 have now gone to the bley side, my source being the lego online catalog: http://shop.lego.com/catalog/onlinecatalog.asp?c=uk1 Also you can see a comparison with the UCS and minifig-scale versions of the two monsters, which is quite cool. Look in the bottom right hand corner of page 45, and you will see the message: "with new brighter grey bricks". I do hope loads of people buy this collection, as my mum bought me the star destroyer, and i'm to pay her back when i have Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Actually you save 50 Euro ;-) Separatly: UCS=369.99 + MF=149.99 = 519.98 As a pack: 469.98 519.98 - 469.98 = 50 ;-) *yoda* Quote

Have a look at SAH, under belgium. 500 euros, as snefroe stated. Other countries such as germany france and spain may save loads of cash, but poor belgium seems to have been screwed here. Quote

xwingyoda Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Lucky Belgians :-P Watch out though, when the ISD came out on SAH France it was at 109.99 and then it went back to 149.99 *wacko* So it might go up, who knows with those idiots :-| *yoda* Quote

Deinonychus Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Holy cow ...stole my line :-D I think it's just a promotional price thing in the category of "why the hell not" It's not like they're specially packaged in the same box. Personally I'm looking forward to picking up the Minifig-scale ISD so I can build that sucker into a Victory-class Star Destroyer in scale with the ISD Quote
Beagle Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Peculiar, it's not available for us U.S. folks. Maybe they've got a surplus of them in European warehouses that they're trying to clear.... and shipping it over here would be too expensive and defeat the purpose. Or perhaps it is a Dollar/Euro conversion issue. Quote
Demolisher 2 Posted July 2, 2006 Author Posted July 2, 2006 It's prob'ly not available for the US because everyone there already has a star desrtoyer, cause theyre real cheap over there, and alot of people just buy everything off ebay, thus destroying lego's US market... moan moan complain complain blah blah blah... :-| :-| |-/ Quote
ReZourceman Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Id buy it, as I dont have either sets. However I cant really spend that much in one go. Although I would If I could afford it. Quote
Darth Doggfather Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Imho its retarded. Who will it appeal to? Uber rich kids who want 2 versions of everything! I don't like the idea, personally. Quote
UltraPrime Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 If I had the money, I'd be in there. One day... Quote
JoeMI6 Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 A bit of a stupid idea. To get more sales than anything else really. If I had the money, maybe.... Quote
captaintau Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 I now dead against this set on the basis of the system-scale ISD no longer being available on S@H. I haven't got it yet due to financial struggles but now feel I'm gonna have to eBay it before prices start rocketing. Quote

Quote
captaintau Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Ordered it from Amazon. Thanks for your suggestion, Mutley, but I beat you to it anyway. Credit card job. I can't actually afford it, but I really don't want to miss out. Quote
