Out of Sight Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Sorry for cluttering the forum with virtual models..can't help it LDD-ing is cheap, fun, fast and makes alternating a model's build easier..especially if you're unsure and need suggestions, like err..this one. While deciding what load my Scania T-series will be pulling along, I made something huge out of impulse. Lego did made a set of huge dumptruck the 7344, but I think the proportion is all wrong. So I made my own. Influenced by the Terex Dumptrucks..with their distinctive sloped hood and white color. Comparison in size with the 7631 dumptrucks, I made the big one in a more appropriate yellow.. I need ideas for the bed, more realistic hand railing and ladder..the truck is 12 wide, I need a bed which is around 12 x 12 big.. The ladder, if you're wondering is held in that angle with the help of a 1 x 8 plate, which protrudes 1 stud on both side of the hood, enough for the ladder to 'rest' upon. Or I could just turn it into a semi tractor like this. Please share your comments and ideas Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Not bad so far 'Out of Sight', though a brick-built set of steps would look more realistic. Keep going and Brick On LDD On ! Quote
Out of Sight Posted April 6, 2011 Author Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) Thanks, mate! Well that crossed my mind about making a brickbuilt steps, but wouldn't they be too thick and fragile? I would like to retain the thin steps/ladders just like when you see the real truck. Any ideas on the bed? What part number is the bed of the 7344? I'll try experimenting with technic panels. lightningtiger Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Try a 2 wide plate with 1x2 slope 30 as the steps....invert so the flat side of the slope is facing upward. That dumper part.....Try here. Brick On LDD On ! Quote

henryhotspurs Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 You should definitely explore brick built steps and maybe the droid arm handrail techniques as perfected by the train tech guys. Otherwise, very cool looking MOC! Quote
