BrickArtist Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) Update : Progress on second page! After seeing saints MOC I was inspired to create my own CTT. I'm hoping for it to include SNOT armor( yet at the same time ), some sort of interior, accurate weaponry, opening side doors, and to be 100% Minifig scale. According to wookiepedia a CTT should be 150 studs long, what do you think? I'm going with 88 studs, and I can't decide f that's correct. Wookiepedia is so often wrong, it's a tough decision to make. Here's a shot of my progress on the base: This top view is horrendous, but here you go: C&C appreciated, please contibute if you can. That's sort of the point of a WIP topic Edited April 14, 2011 by DobbyClone Quote

Given that the CTT exists only as CGI models and a concept sculpt with no figurine for scale, I'd say there's a good chance Wookieepedia is correct. Quote
Fuzzylegobricks Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Great I do look forward to your progress as well! also remember my fuzzy purple chair too. Quote

Wookiepedia is so often wrong, it's a tough decision to make. I think 150 studs is too long. By my calculations using the Republic Gunship as the reference (close to minifig-scale LEGO model) and using wookieepedia's dimensions, the CTT is 2.8 times longer than the RGS, so translating to studs: RGS ~ 42 studs, CT ~ 117 studs. 88 studs is like two RGS long, which is quite ok IMO. I'll try to provide some input when the build is progressing. But the idea of a SNOT build is really promising. Quote
Saint Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Nice ! I for one like to see where this is going ! Having taken the trubble of using google I found that the CCT is larger than Wookipedia wrong... artist impressoins make it larger than that .. ( only found 4 picture's beside a lot of CCT lego set's ) Saying that, just don't think anything of what I say, just follow your gut and you'll be fine !!! Grtz Saint Quote
Fallenangel Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) Wookieepedia likes to invent random dimensions for things (9.8m for TIE Advanced x1 - wait, WHAT?) so the best thing to do is take a few screen captures and approximate dimensions (e. g. those clones are all the same height after all so pretend a minifigure is as tall as a clone and go from there). Having seen your other MOC choices I'm sure you're used to working with CGI reference. EDIT: If you search 'Clone Turbo Tank' on Google you're going to have a bunch of toy pictures pop up. Search 'HAV/w Juggernaut' and you should be fine. Edited April 6, 2011 by fallenangel309 Quote

You see, I laid down 2 50x50s, a 32x32, and a 16x16, and said It just looked too massive. Yeah, I'm looking forward to the SNOT work. It'll take some time, but I think that it will represent the beasty CTT armor well. Nice ! I for one like to see where this is going ! Yeah, looking at your rendition, and two other ones across the web, I thought that 150 would look freakishly bug. Yeah I saw a lot of CTT lego sets/MOCs, some good, and some EDIT-Do you mind if I use your wheel design with some modifications? Either there is no evidence, and that's just the editors work, or Lucas slapped on some dimensions without any thought at all Edited April 6, 2011 by DobbyClone Quote
Mr Man Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) Sorry for the off topic but isn't the 9.8m TIE Advanced x1 canon, even if it is obviously wrong, wookieepedia works only with canon (so they say) so regardless of the stupid figures they still will put it. On topic This looks like it will be a monster. I would love to see someone make an A-6, A-5 and a A5-RX together, in the same scale (Hint Hint ) Edited April 6, 2011 by Mr Man Quote
Brickdoctor Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Well if you look at this picture, compare the Juggernaut to the clone standing next to it's front-most left wheel (its left, your right), the clone's head barely reaches the hubcap's bottom-most edge. Each wheel alone should be about five minifigs tall, so the Wookieepedia measurement sounds closer than any of the other LEGO CTT's on the 'Net. Quote

I suppose mine won't be quite to minifig scale, but pretty close. Yeah that's true, I suppose mine will be a bit undersized. That's okay though, it'll allow for a more accurate/detailed model. Quote
Mr Man Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Each wheel alone should be about five minifigs tall. I see about 4 minifigs tall, but if your going for 88 instead of 150 studs long then 3 MFT should be fine. I look forward to seeing more pics DobbyClone. Quote

Mr Man Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) Looking good DobbyClone. Hmm should you have brought the sides in until the start of the cockpit? The hull doesn't start going in until the very start of the cockpit. (at the moment it looks like you are building Edit: Unless that's the back This ) Edited April 6, 2011 by Mr Man Quote
Commander_Rob Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) Looks nice so far. Do you plan to include the pop-out missile launchers? Unless that's the back I'd guess so, looking at the wedge plates on the other end. Edited April 6, 2011 by Commander_Rob Quote
BrickArtist Posted April 6, 2011 Author Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) Edit: Unless that's the back Bingo. Looks nice so far. Do you plan to include the pop-out missile launchers? Yeah, I'm going to MOD those in, I just forgot about them when I was building Edited April 6, 2011 by DobbyClone Quote
Commander_Rob Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Ah, I see. Just an idea, but something like a spring-loaded mechanism might work. Quote
BrickArtist Posted April 6, 2011 Author Posted April 6, 2011 Ah, I see. Just an idea, but something like a spring-loaded mechanism might work. Possibly, I was thinking of using a gear mechanism for that. I may experiment with springs though. Quote
cavegod Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 i have a Joe johnson sketch showing the scale of the tank to a person if it's any use? Quote
Cpt. Dan Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 This is looking great. I really like the use of the technic parts to create the angle on the tank. Quote
Saint Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 you mind if I use your wheel design with some modifications? No problem here just some humble thanks from your side , half your collection of ceramic cats and a home made applepie would do the trick ( just kidding folks ) Quote
Brickdoctor Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 i have a Joe johnson sketch showing the scale of the tank to a person if it's any use? That's the Empire concept art for the AT-AT, though, right? How accurate can you consider that to be as far as the Sith Juggernaut is concerned? Quote

Brickdoctor Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Looks about right. Maybe a little too tall as far as proportions go. Quote
Mr Man Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 It looks pretty accurate to me *Snip* Not the one I was expecting I was expecting this(which looks more accurate than I remember it ) , no this one does look accurate to me. Quote
