mostlytechnic Posted April 25, 2013 Author Posted April 25, 2013 Nice mod there - and good price on the set! Quote
SheepEater Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Nice review. Here are some photos of the alternate model. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=299194http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=299194 Quote
technicfan Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 What length are the rubber yellow axles used for the guards?. Quote
mostlytechnic Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Thanks for those images on the alternate dragster - I think it's fantastic looking! The design is different than modern dragsters, but I don't know what was running on the strip back when this set came out. Quote
Tashi Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Thank you very much for such a detailed review! Great job. Quote
DrJB Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Thank you for reviving this thread. This was one of my first few sets, coming back to lego, ... back around 2003-4 .... I liked how they used two motors to generate more torque. Still have it, should rebuild it someday. I never opened the tape, it is still wrapped in cello clear paper ... Quote
jantjeuh Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 I'd love to have a copy of this set, I really, really need those Power Puller wheels Quote
mostlytechnic Posted September 17, 2013 Author Posted September 17, 2013 I'd love to have a copy of this set, I really, really need those Power Puller wheels Well, mine's for sale over on bricklink or in the bazaar here Love the set, just have too much already and need to clear room (heck, have a 8297 and 8258 arriving tomorrow...) Quote
jantjeuh Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Well, mine's for sale over on bricklink or in the bazaar here Let me guess, 150 euro Quote
DrJB Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 I have 2 sealed 8258 ... and one open , but not selling ;) ... imho, one of the best sets ever. Quote
mostlytechnic Posted September 17, 2013 Author Posted September 17, 2013 Let me guess, 150 euro Currently asking $190 USD, which is about 140 euros. It's the only one for sale on BL in the US and one of the cheapest anywhere on there. Quote
jantjeuh Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Perhaps, but I'm only interested in the wheels, and I'm not paying 70 euro per wheel Quote
CisFran Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 If you're interested on the wheels and not on the prints, get the 8466 and have 4 wheels instead Quote
jantjeuh Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 If you're interested on the wheels and not on the prints, get the 8466 and have 4 wheels instead 8466 is even more expensive! Quote
CisFran Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 better watch out for great deals in auction sites. I got my mint 8457 (complete except the VHS tape) for around $120. My 8466, I also got for around $75... As of now, I have two sets of 8457 and two sets of 8466... Quote
jantjeuh Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 You got damn lucky then it seems. If you ever want to sell one of your 8466's, don't forget about poor old me Quote
technicfan Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Has anyone ever done any modified versions of this set?, being how popular tractor pulling is in the US and Europe. I wan't to do one with 2 V8's with 3 turbos each. Quote
Carrera124 Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 This summer, I got a MISB 8457 for €130 at Ebay Quote
DrJB Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 (edited) Just did it ... bought an 8480 off eBay ... decent price, only few missing common parts ... should make for a fun evening or two. Edited September 18, 2013 by DrJB Quote

Well, i just think it's much more proper for your post to appear in this link, just my 2cents: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=66544&hl=%2B8480+%2Breview Quote
