Hello all,

After lurking around here for a while I figured I should post a contribution and introduce myself. I'm just getting back into the Lego hobby after a long dark age, but I've been back at it hard lately default_devg1.gif . I've always been a fan of model trains, and as soon as I saw the beautiful Emerald Night I new I'd be starting a train layout. So far I picked up the EN, Cargo Train, and the Maersk is on it's way. I recently found a NIB 10183 Hobby Train Set at BrickWorld Indy for $90 USD, and I can't say enough good things about it. The main model of the Hobby train was great and fun to build, but with my 3rd engine on the way, I decided to tear it down and build some proper cars with the set. I was able to build almost 4 complete cars from this set with only minor modifications and parts from my collection. I regret not buying the 2nd set that was available for $90, as I later learned that they are going for twice that on Bricklink & eBay.

I've already outgrown my limited amount of track, and finding the options for acquiring more very limited and very pricey. I wish Lego would add track to PAB or start selling it without flexi.

Of course, the obligatory pictures: (a few more on my flicker page)

My take on 10017 Hopper Wagon

These next 4 cars were ~95% built from (1) 10183 Hobby Train Set, based mostly from the alternate instructions found here. (As far as I know, they are no longer available from Lego.)

This is probably my favorite

Welcome to Eurobricks Inkog! There are a lot of train cars and trains you own. The custom ones look great, especially the hopper. The alternative is my favorite as well for the Hobby train. The caboose is very good and are you thinking of making a logo for it?

It is a shame you did not get the $90 hobby train, but you still got one! I can't wait to here more from you again Inkog!

The hobby train is my favorite train set, glad to see you are getting good use out of it too. I really like these two engines from the hobby train box:

The second one is the same as in the instructions, but the first one has had a number of modifications (had to lower it two plates to make the height fit with the second loc).

Impressive glass cabinet & beautiful collection hoeij.

I like very much the second diesel locomotive you're talking about ...it seems a belgian blue bull!

Thanks. I've been trying to get a good complete picture of the glass cabinet, but haven't been able to get a good shot (the reflection of the flash in the glass messes up most of the pictures. I think I have to take the glass out if I want to get a full picture).

This second diesel locomotive is not an MOC, it's a locomotive from the hobby train box (the first one is also from the hobby train box, with some modifications).
