Teazza Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Hello everybody, here is my latest addiction to my space center. It is a special transport truck to move a giant antenna like the ones used in the Very Large Array site, used to capture any signals from space. Every comments or suggestion is welcome! gcanik Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 The antennae array is an awesome design especially integrated into the trailer. I just think the truck needs more umph to it, seems kind of small and puny to pull such a massive array but I can see how a six wide truck cab fits into the Lego world. Maybe make it longer and taller or enlarge the front to imply a larger engine block to give it size. I do love the color scheme to with the blue and white and black. Quote
buddy Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 (edited) Great MOC! It looks like it will be a good addition to your space centre. I too particularly like the look and design of the antenna and the colour scheme of the whole thing. Very well done. ~buddy~ Edit: My 1100th post! Edited April 2, 2011 by buddy Quote
Zorbas Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Very nice work Teazza. I really like the truck and although that it looks unusual it sure reminds me of vehicles been used in airports (and probably space centers ). The trailer looks nice but I think that if it had been a little bit wider it would have been better. Balance issues you see. The antenna is what I like the most! Great design and excellent use of the transparent cheese slope pieces! Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Now it's nice but not really realistic is it 'Teazza'.....looks more sci-fi than town forum material ! It's a good design, but the tractor unit looks underpowered and this below is a transporter with a VLA antenna. Unless you can come up with a picture of a real one, then like I said sci-fi not town ! On the plus side, that VLA is very well made, but it looks more like a radar dish then the usual kind of dish we use to spy on the universe ! Brick On 'Teazza' ! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Another great space themed MOC Teazza I like the odd shapely-ness of the rig. Looks exactly like a Jet Tug. Hows the range on the satellite, heard from E.T? Keep up the great MOCs! Quote

Yes, I also thought that maybe the truck is not big enough, but I wanted to get the feeling of that low trucks that you can see in the airports to move the airplanes (see Zorbas post) and I think this is a good solution. Reply to: 'lightningtiger' : Yes, is not as the real one, but I just took the global idea, didn't wanted to reproduce the real one. I also had to build up something good with pieces in my disposition... To all: Many thanks to everybody for your comments!!! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Another quality build Teazza! I've been a fan of your previous Space Station MOCs and this one looks to be a good ''supplementary' build to your larger ones. I could understand the simplistic design of the truck like the small airport cars/trucks, but the way the large array antenna built with the various panels and the effective use of those trans-blue pieces is really very impressive. dr_spock Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Nice work. The array looks great. I think that earlier trailer you built for transporting your satellite might work better for the moving array. Given its wider wheels base arrangement, there'll be less chance for a top heavy array to tip over. Quote
