The Legonater Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 I doubt that. People know they have to die, eventually. I don't think either Rex or Ahsoka is beloved and iconic enough to cause an "uprising". It's not like killing off another Chewbacca. If they do the character justice with the death, I don't think there'll be many complaints. (and I'm sure there will be many happy to see Ahsoka go, too) I'm all for charecter deaths- but the writer in me begs for them to be worthy. I always found Chewbacca's death a little undeserving- such a large charecter deserved more than to be crushed by a rock. Rex and Ashoka are the type that have to go out in a blaze of action. And compared to waht they've survived thus far- this will be one intense blaze of action. To me, Cody is more of a by-the-books type of officer than Rex is. He's not the type that would disobey Order 66, even if he had decided that it was the wrong thing to do. I agree to this. Rex's charecter is a lot like Maze from the RC books, and he just couldn't stand to kill his officer- going as far as to help him escape. Quote

If they do the character justice with the death, I don't think there'll be many complaints. (and I'm sure there will be many happy to see Ahsoka go, too) I agree on Ahsoka, but if it is another Echo moment for Rex, I will certainly start an uprising. Echo deserved a more heroic death, and so does Rex. Knowin the series and how it is, my guess would be that Ahsoka dies fighting Grievous when some strange and unlikely event allows Grievous to catch her by suprise. (i.e. MagnaGuards) I'm all for charecter deaths- but the writer in me begs for them to be worthy. I always found Chewbacca's death a little undeserving- such a large charecter deserved more than to be crushed by a rock. Rex and Ashoka are the type that have to go out in a blaze of action. And compared to waht they've survived thus far- this will be one intense blaze of action. There you go. That is exactly what I want for both of them, but it is unlikely to happen. Let's face it, the deaths in CW are never going to be as good as deaths in the OT. The main reason: Most of the 'honorable' deaths have been done before. In the first season, the stuff was new and exciting, but now it's all been done before. The ideas are getting more and more desperate, but in doing so, make the show unenjoyable. We've seen it all before, and we want something new. I want to see the Seps gun down a Venator and actually win, killing all the survivors of the crash. That would be enjoyable because it is something new. It's the same for the Geonosis or Death Watch arcs. They were new and had never been explored, so they were enjoyable. But I won't enjoy any part of the new Death Watch episode, because they've done a snow planet and they've done the Death Watch. The only new thing in that episode will be the female Mando. That is the only reason I watch TCW, because I want to see something new. If they take that out of the series, it will crash and burn like the 2003 CW before it. That's my opinion, and that's how it is. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 My point is that whether or not the deaths are 'good' deaths, death is still the best way to integrate Rex and Ahsoka into the storyline. Yes, there will be upset people, as with anything CW does, but it would cause fewer problems with continuity than anything else would. That, and I still don't think they're popular enough to cause an "uprising" if killed off. Quote

While I agree there ceratinly won't be an "uprising" of any sort, I must say I don't think death is the best way, but merely the easiest way, which doesn't rely on tricky plots or difficult explanations. We've seen what TCW has done to logic and EU, so death would be a way you can make least errors. Letting them survive like with Darth Maul when they should die way would propably upset people who watch it even more than simply killing trivially. Quote

CMP Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Actually, Chewbacca exploded along with an entire moon. Anyway...these episodes have been, well, really, really lacking. It seems they've replaced political boredom with humour and poor plots. All we can do, though, is hope it gets better. Quote
commanderneyo Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Here is a preview clip from "Darkness on Umbara"! This looks to make amends already for this lacklustre season so far! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFXFawwLhjU&feature=feedu Gotta love Clone Trooper Hardcase's line "Time to lock and load!" Quote
Fallenangel Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 it will crash and burn like the 2003 CW before it Wait, what? Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Wait, what? Have you watched any of those episodes? They suck. They may be better than the latest episodes of TCW, but they suck. That series could have been so much, but they ruined it with awful voices and over-the-top action. It didn't last two whole seasons, while TCW has lasted 3 1/2. I liked the action, but it got bad reviews and closed down. That's crash and burn in my books. Umbara looks really good. Gotta love the ARF/AT-RT driver crossovers. And Harcase's line is one of the best in the series. Lock and load! Quote

It was never meant to last, anyways. Plus they didn't mess up canon horridly like TCW does (expect for the whole Labyrinth of Evil issue)- if anything they added to it. Quote

nex Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Gotta love the ARF/AT-RT driver crossovers. I think that they're Phase II ARF troopers. BTW, anyone like/dislike Rex's helmet? I like it, but I still would've prefered the standard Phase II helmet. Quote

No, I'm pretty sure this is a 'transition' phase. It is just TCW's way of getting the old out and the new in, like the Phase 1.5 ARCs and the new pilots. That helmet on the pilot looks awesome, here's hoping we get a LEGO set with him in. Any sign of the ARC-170/Z-95 crossovers seen in the early trailers? I'm really wanting an explanation for that. And FYI, I love Rex's helmet! Don't you insult it! Quote

Fives Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 These Umbara episodes look really great! Krall's voice doesn't seem to fit him. It needs to be deeper, but he still looks awesome. I really hope that this story arc doesn't see the end of too many characters. Quote

Fives Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Did anyone else see Fives in that trailer? I just hope they don't terminate him.....permanently. Fives is my favorite clone from the series, so I really hope he doesn't die. What I really want is a LEGO version of him in his ARC armor. Also, I believe that in the new Ninjago sets, Garmadon has four arms, which gives me a feeling that Pong Krell will be in a set this summer, hopefully. Quote

If they did make Pong Krell though, it would be way too tall, as the Garmadon from Ninjago 2012 is nearly twice the size of a regular minifig to compensate for the extra arms. Quote

I hope someone can customize the lego ARC trooper in the clone trooper and commando droid battle pack (when it comes out in 2012). Edited October 24, 2011 by nex Quote
