If you have to pick just one thing coming in 2011, be it a set, a theme, a single part or minifig, or even a service from TLG... what are really most thankful for?

Personally I am most thankful for the humble return of the pitchfork!!! No really, I am super happy about this

As of right now the anticipated October opening of LEGOLAND Florida is the 2011 development to which I'm most looking forward to, but the year is still young; there's plenty of time for new surprises...

The new farm animals in the Kingdoms sets. Two brand new animals and two variations of old/older ones. I'm tickled pink about all the new minifigs coming this year but the farm animals really stand out. I won't just buy them I'll ache until I can buy them and then cherish them. Oh and that ape from the collectible minifigs. That's worth mauling people to get.

Another vote for the return of the pitchfork from me, plus I am generally looking forward to the new civilian torsos from the summer Kingdoms sets. Another highlight will be the reddish brown 1x4x3 windows from the Creator Lighthouse. The collectible minifig I am most looking forward to is probably the Cave Woman, although Cleopatra comes very close. Although I won't buy a lot from the Alien Invasion theme, it looks fun. All in all I am very content with what Lego have planned for the year.

Probably the thing I'm most happy about is the new Hero Factory building system. It's versatile, innovative, and finally IMO makes constraction themes as distinct from Technic as Technic is from System. It fixes the structural flaws of BIONICLE joints since 2006 or 2007, and simplifies the constraction "joint pieces" to their core essence. The proportions and so forth have reverted roughly to the standards of 2001 BIONICLE, satisfying nostalgia while still having fresh, new designs. And specialized pieces at least seem a lot less character-specific than they used to.

I am looking forward to the debut of the "Hero Recon Team" program next week, which is the sort of thing BIONICLE fans have been asking for since LEGO Factory debuted over half a decade ago. The summer sets don't impress me quite as much, but I'm still enthusiastic about buying a few.

Anyway, when Hero Factory first emerged last year, while I liked the designs, they were not outstanding and seemed to be a halfhearted attempt to reduce BIONICLE's legacy to a purer, simpler form. This year's sets finish the job and create a system that will hopefully put constraction sets on a steady road of improvement in the years to come.

Well, it would probably be the opening of the LEGO store in Indianapolis, Indiana (in America). I guess it doesn't affect most people on here, but since I live only about 1 hour away from there, it will be a lot more convenient than having to go 3 hours to the store in Chicago. Also the fact that it's opening is right after my birthday makes it a nice excuse to get a lot of sets.

So far, for me it's the Village Mill Raid set from Kingdoms. My jaw dropped when I saw it and am super excited to get it. It'll probably change though once I see a picture of the new Modular Pet Shop.

The pitchfork, the Mill Village Raid and the new civilian torsos have already been mentioned, and together they form the civilian aspect in Castle theme, all too rarely seen! In fact it has't really been featured in Castle (excluding exclusive sets) since the 80s, when I was just a tad too young to really appreciate it. There are other great things in TLG's repertoire this year, but nothing can compete. This is something I've been waiting for twenty years.

Can someone provide a pic or link to this pitchfork. I am very interested (for the farm) and have never seen it. I hope they are not very expensive on BL... :sceptic:

I couldn't possibly pick just one.

TLG's move to include civilian sets in the Kingdoms line! :classic:

It took them long enough.

Then there's the pitchfork. And Heroica!

Now, I wish they release Heroica playsets.

Edit:

THE ANIMAL MOLDS!! Dear lord, there're just too many things to be excited about 2011 LEGO.

The new pitchfork is more or less an exact copy of the old pitchfork, piece 4496. Having been released in only a few sets more than twenty years ago it has been quite expensive, but surely the prices will drop now. There's two pitchforks in Mill Village Raid set and one in a medium-sized Alien Conquest set.

It's difficult to pinpoint a single specific feature offered by Lego in 2011 that I appreciate above all others, but certainly, the new minifigures, animals, and other new parts/molds in the summer Kingdoms line impresses me. The Collectible Minifigures Series 4 really outdoes the prior series while Series 5 brings us the last 3 figures/characters I had hoped for since the creation of the Collectible Minifigures theme last year.

The civilian part of the medieval theme ist great. I hope there will be more in the future.

Also some more "girl"-friendly farm-sets with more animals and green stuff (for my daughter).

And a wife and children for my Elf in the next series of minifigs!
