LegoCityFanatic Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 (edited) Hi, I am currently building an apartment building to go in with my Lego Green Grocer and Grand Emporium. I am building it on LDD but I am stuck and would like your suggestions . Here is a snip of what I am trying to do. Front Back Also, could somebody please post me a link to that user's photography program. Thanks! Update: How do I put the mail IN the mailbox, or the food IN the fridge? lightningtiger Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Welcome to EB 'LegoCityFanatic', now there is a another forum just for LDD work...... LEGO Digital Designer and other digital tools, there you can ask questions on the operation of LDD and what can be and can not be done in LDD. I must say not bad start, I can't see too much so far to comment on except those 3x2x1 windows are too long to the ground given their width....down that low, wider windows look better. Keep going and keep on LDDing 'LegoCityFanatic' ! Oh, by the way....you double posted this so I'll let a MOD know to fix it. Quote

Thanks for the suggestion, I too found out it was rather odd standing out there. Do you think the wider window should be a little higher. Probably 1 or 2 studs. Quote
Tamamono Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 First of all-welcome to Eurobricks, LegoCityFanatic! Like lightningtiger says, it's a good start. However, it needs a lot of work before it can be called done. The sidewalk is nice, but I would suggest using a 32x32 gray or tan baseplate instead of a green one. Also, you should really wait until the general structure of the building is done (at least the ground floor) before adding little details like furniture. I don't think LDD will let you put the letters in the mailbox because there aren't any studs inside of it. For example: a minifigure can stand on a SNOT (Studs Not On Top) sidewalk fine in the real world, but they need to stand on studs in LDD due to it's programming. Also, do you have LU mode turned on? If not, here's a tutorial on how to enable it. Good luck on that apartment building! Quote
wooootles Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 For modular style, it doesn't quite matter what color baseplate you have. In the end, you will cover them off with tiles. Quote

Fuzzylegobricks Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 (edited) It took me a while to get LU working too. Are you using a Mac or Pc? Here is a tutorial index with almost everything, at the very top there is a lot of photography tips and examples (tutorials) Good Luck! Edited March 28, 2011 by Fuzzylegobricks Quote

Tamamono Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 LU mode doesn't work for me. Idk why. Could you explain the problem a little more? Does LDD crash while using it? Did you follow the steps to access it? LU isn't necessary to make a good modular building, but it has an amazing selection of parts and it really helps. Quote
Fuzzylegobricks Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 LU can crash often for the parts take a while to load. The situation can be helped by me if I know this, Do you have a Mac or Pc? Quote

I have a PC, but that is not the problem. LU mode does not load for me whenever I follow the given directions. Quote
