unbornchikken Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 I am finally posting a long overdue introduction post to Eurobricks. :) After Christmas 2010 (along with my January birthday), I found myself with some gift money and nothing in particular that I wanted to spend it on. On a whim, I decided in mid January to spend a little bit of it to get my 5-year old son and 2-year old daughter a few LEGOs. We already had a few sets in the family, but nothing too big. We ended up getting the newly released Mobile Police Unit (7288) and Police Minifigure Collection (7279). The rest as they say, is history. I found myself recalling my childhood of countless hours building and rebuilding LEGOs. When I realized via a few google searches that there was a HUGE community of Adult Fans of LEGOs who make some awe-inspring works, I was hooked. I went out in the weeks after and purchased a few sets "just for me" (at least until the kids are old enough not to accidentally bite or lose the pieces). Building Fallingwater (21005) was what really set my new addiction in stone. So now I'm a couple months into my new hobby, and I've sold off a bunch of stuff from my other hobbies (music, trading card games, etc.) to invest in a collection for MOCing. I'm not looking back; I sincerely think that I have found a hobby that I hope will be something I do for the rest of my life. The great thing about it of course is that even if I don't, the kids will still get great use out of it (my son absolutely LOVES LEGOs). :) As far as sets, I'm not really into any theme in particular, but the historical theme would be the answer I would give if one was forced upon me. I've been buying sets mostly based on price/piece and the kinds of pieces it comes with (so far that's meant Castle, and Harry Potter sets along with whatever is on sale/cheap on eBay). I've started a blog that I will share when I feel it is ready. I hope to illuminate the process of building and planning as well as share my thoughts as I learn and grow as a builder. I have a couple "big project" MOCs that I've been working on over the past month that I hope to share soon-ish as well. As for myself, I'm 28, with a lovely, supportive (even in terms of LEGOs!!) wife and two beautiful children. I'm a computer/database programmer by day. My other hobbies are soccer (Manchester United fan), music (playing and listening), reading and gaming (Starcraft 2 fan). I hope eventually to become an active member of this great community. Thanks for reading! Quote
Pandora Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Lovely intro unbornchikken, I wish you many hours of happiness with your rekindled LEGO hobby, be that with your children or MOCing, and I look forward to seeing more of your MOCs. Never mind about being a Man U fan; I'm sure there's a cure somewhere! Quote

bricklayer Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Welcome unborbchikken I like what you said:" I sincerely think that I have found a hobby that I hope will be something I do for the rest of my life." I feel the same way, I think they put something in these bricks....some magical powder or something!!! Quote
