Decale Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Hi everyone, (I searched for a topic like that but type the word "flickr" in the search bar and see what you find...) To share MOC with EB members, I chose the solution of Brickshelf, which satisfies me. But as I browsed through the Brothers Brick blog, I found myself looking in Flickr, going from a user to another one, seeing their galleries, all the comments, the little squares you can make on an image to comment precisely a part of a moc, etc... this is amazing! This is a real complement to the community that is Eurobricks. That's why I created my account. But I'm not really familiar with how this all work: how do you have mates and take part in groups without looking awkward? I mean, what should I do to have a good time on flickr, sharing thoughts and building ideas with other AFOLs? If somebody can teach me the "first steps", thank you Sorry if a similar topic has already been done, or if mine is not considered interesting. Feel free to suppress it Quote
Oky Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Just search for and join the groups that interest you (e.g. Lego Star Wars, Lego Castle, Lego Space, etc.) and start commenting on MOCs you like. But just like on EB, make sure you make meaningful comments rather than just "LOL" or "Awesome!". And if you already have a friend here on EB or someone whose MOCs you like, try finding them on Flickr or just ask them for their Flickr username. Also, get your own MOCs seen by adding them to as many groups that they fit into as possible, but don't go too crazy and respect the guidelines of each group. Other than that, just be polite, and you'll be set to go. I hope this helped. There was a Flickr tutorial around here somewhere, but that one focused more on the technical aspects. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 If you don't mind, I'd like to turn this into a 'Flickr Community' thread, which is basically what I think you had in mind anyway. Do you mind if I rename your topic to better reflect a discussion about how to participate in the Flickr community? Quote
Decale Posted March 24, 2011 Author Posted March 24, 2011 Thank you very much for your help Oky , this is exactly the kind of advice I needed even though it may seem obvious. If you don't mind, I'd like to turn this into a 'Flickr Community' thread, which is basically what I think you had in mind anyway. Do you mind if I rename your topic to better reflect a discussion about how to participate in the Flickr community? It's ok, I don't mind, hopefully I'll learn some more things. "how to participate in the Flickr community" was the question I had in mind, but I wrote several lines instead Quote
