alienwar9 Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 hey all, This might be a pretty wacky idea, but is there any way to load an unsaved file that closed? I was working on multiple designs in LDD and had to leave for a little, and when I came back my computer had restarted because of stupid windows updates. I'm afraid I might not be able to recreate the designs, as I was having some of the best moments of inspiration and creation I've had in a while and made all sorts of nifty things. I was thinking about ghost data, but does it work if the file never was saved? Is there any log of what was done in LDD, even temporary, that might be retrieved? Quote

I don't know about any such trick, no. That might be a sort of feature that would be good to incorporate into a future version of LDD. In the meantime, I just recommend saving frequently (something I really got into the habit of back when I first got LDD 4.0 and it tended to crash all the time). Quote
Superkalle Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I don't think either that the work can be recovered - don't know of any backup or temp-files created by LDD. Sorry. Quote
legolijntje Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I think it isn't possible, because if LDD makes a tempory file of the model, why do you have to save it then? Quote
alienwar9 Posted March 24, 2011 Author Posted March 24, 2011 I was thinking that it might work with the history, like the undo button or something. The undo and redo stays until you save a file, but I have no idea how the undo works or where it stores its history. Quote
starwarsfanatic Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 I hate programs that don't autosave. Wordpad is the same, and when I lost MS Office I had to use that for word-processing. And my computer would crash all the time (if it was unplugged and turned on for more than fifteen seconds!) Quote
Toa_Of_Justice Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 ...when I came back my computer had restarted because of stupid windows updates. What version of Windows are you running? I might be able to find a fix for that nasty auto-reboot function. -Toa Of Justice Quote
legolijntje Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Maybe a bit late, but I found THIS program. If it ever happens again, maybe this can help. But I never tried it myself Quote
alienwar9 Posted April 16, 2011 Author Posted April 16, 2011 (edited) Thanks! Only one little issue, I have no idea if there is a file that ever existed in the first place and have no idea where it would be, or what it would be called. By the way, I'm running vista (really want 7) Edited April 16, 2011 by alienwar9 Quote
Toa_Of_Justice Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Thanks! Only one little issue, I have no idea if there is a file that ever existed in the first place and have no idea where it would be, or what it would be called. By the way, I'm running vista (really want 7) I found this page via Google that should help with fixing the auto-reboot after Windows Update. I hope it helps. -Toa Of Justice Quote
