lightningtiger Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Well the platform for the train show is finished, I must get more 2x2 round light bluey grey bricks for the oil drums. I still have to design a petrol bowser for the IGA store....hopefully tomorrow ! Comments welcome. Quote
Fuzzylegobricks Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Wonderful job! (don't let my cat see this he loves black things! ) Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 22, 2011 Author Posted March 22, 2011 Thanks 'Fuzzy'.....now that was quick, posted at 4.45 and you replied at 4.47.....thank you for that kind comment.....but keep kitty-kitty at bay ! Any suggestions for a petrol bowser/pump ? Quote
Fuzzylegobricks Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 ouch a pump like that looks tough. I will try and help by the end of tomorrow. Quote
CptMugwash Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 The depot looks great LT Keep up the good work Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 22, 2011 Author Posted March 22, 2011 Thanks 'CptMW' for your kind words, I really must make more oil drums too....like 20 of them ! Any suggestions for a bowser I can Lego-ize ? Keep on watching ! Quote
mikey Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 The roof looks very smooth A lot of plate roofs end up with gaps, the plate with rails totally smooths them and looks perfect . Maybe instead of using bricks on the gable ends, use more plates to suggest the steel structure? Also on the bottom you have two round 2x2 stacked, above these the inverse slope looks great, but instead of ending it with a 1x2 brick, bridge the gap with more reddish brown bricks to suggest large timber beams which support the floor? AussieJimbo Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Great to see another historic local brand on your nice new depot, LT. Our street directory when we were growing up had a raft on the back with those Ampol barrels for floatation. :big grin: Looking forward to seeing it all come together in your layout for the show. :classic: Quote
TanTile Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 this is looking looking great! i havent seen those signs in a long time, a nice change to all those BP and Shells we see all the time Thanks for the flash back what about something along the lines of this? to keep that country town feel you have going Quote
jonwil Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Nice job, good to see such an iconic brand represented (and one that still exists in some places, mostly country area) And its sad to think of the way the giant oil companies (like BP, Shell, Mobil and Caltex) have taken over all the good Aussie oil companies like Ampol and Golden Fleece Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 22, 2011 Author Posted March 22, 2011 Thanks 'mikey'....I will put a cross beam between those two points either side....oh, and the far end isn't as fancy as AMPOL sign end as the sign end is the most visible ! To 'AussieJ', 'TanTile' and 'jonwil' thank you for your comments and any suggestions you and everyone else has made....every little bit helps ! It was also a cool find 'TanTile' of that servo on flickr....very art deco indeed ! The bowser I need to use could be either very modern or very 1950's....but realistic so I can sticker it ! Keep on suggesting ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 23, 2011 Author Posted March 23, 2011 (edited) By the end of today I'll have a diesel bowser in and beams more visible under the platform - giving it the appearance of strength ! Keep on watching ! Edited March 23, 2011 by lightningtiger Quote
