I'm in the process of sorting my 15+ year-old collection of Legos. Last week I attempted to tackle a gallon bag full of black bricks (I sorted by color first..I know, I know..).

Before I knew it, I was looking at bricks, piecing them together and casually looking for random pieces. A few minutes later, I was frantically looking for THE piece, then another THE piece..and another..

By the end, I came up with what you see below. I had such a great time building this little ship as it wasn't from instructions, it wasn't in LDD - it was me sitting down with a huge pile of bricks and coming up with something - something I haven't done in over 15 years***.

Enjoy, and thanks for reading it - happy building :)

(***I actually forgot that a few years ago some co-workers and I bought 4 mini creator sets and built MOCs for our own little MOC-off at work - awesome)

Whoa, that's pretty cool! Even though black was handy, it would look nicer with some color variety. Don't worry, we all sort it out by color at first. It is just a huge beginners mistake  .

That's a very nice little build.

I can imagine what it looks like in minifig scale.

Your "sorting to building" story happens to me as well. You sit down thinking: "Finally I have some time to sort that pile." and before you know it you have taken out more bricks than you have put away, just because two little pieces set of your imagination.

And any feeling of dissappointment you may have about how little got sorted, is completely eclipsed by the joy of having created something new.

Good luck with any more sorting you need to do. Here's hoping inspiration strikes again.

Thanks for the feedback and sorting sympathy everyone :).

@Endigo - I have, unfortunately, lots more sorting to do. My childhood collection is a bit ridiculous in scale. Lots more to do, but it was good to take a break and MOC it up :D

Nice. It would be really cool to try and make this in minifig scale. *Starts thinking of how to make each section in bigger parts, then comes back to reality*. As someone said above, it would look nicer if it had some color variety, perhaps just a different color for the windscreen or something like that. I had something like this happen a few weeks ago, I was sorting parts for the first time ever and I put a few parts together, and after a few hours I ended up with the base for a giant (well not really GIANT, but big for be) ship that will be nearly 2 feet long.

Thanks so much everyone - really appreciate the feedback!

@brickmack - I am totally with you. I'd love to create a larger ship. I'll have to do more sorting first though :P.

I definitely want to add more color, maybe create a small fleet :D
