Last week Perfectionist paid a visit to Blackmoor and me, and ofcourse he took his frigate with him. It was a good opportunity to take some pictures of Achille and Vesta and to have some naval -and other- discussions. So, without further ado, here are a few of the pictures we took: And a shot of our sigfig's. Perfectionist forgot his so we had to make another one. That's also the reason of his title And another picture with a custom added background. There are some more shots in my brickshelf folder (when public). So that's it. It was nice to compare the two ships. They are almost of the same weight and length and it was great to see all the details IRL. Aalak Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 It's great to see my two favorite Frigates broadside by broadside, ... and thanks god, they didn't exchange them Nice work with the photoshoping, too... the second one is quite realisitc... the first one is great too, but it would need some working at the waterline, some floating around the hull, I'm not shure how to discribe it, but I guess something like "flow lines"? Captain Becker Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I saw these pictures in your Brickself last week Admiral, and i must say at they really look stunning next to each others. Both of the ships has their own charm, in yours Vesta the working riggind and the backcabin makes it look fantastic, while Achilles has "Cleaner look" on the riggind but not working. But the ships over all look and the interior makes the ship looks lovley. I think you had really good time over there and see each others ships. Thanks for saring these pictures whit us. (Even at i have seen these already ) Its great to see them again. And i hope you had a great time chatting whit each others and talking about naval tactics and plans for us redcoats maby. It is absolutly amazing how you managed to create the impression that these - admittedly beautiful - vessels would indeed be floating and you can even spot some parts of the hull through the water! That really is amazing, even more so since the prefabs makes these ships like a mixture of full models and waterline models. What is a little disappointing is that the sun was shining from behind the ships, so some parts came out darker than they should have been on the pics. It was indeed very inspiring seing Vesta in real life and also meeting Captain Blackmoor and yourself. I'm sure some things we discussed will soon take effect. Quote

We did indeed talk about naval tactics. I think you should push your faction a little harder to build good ships.We have the same amount of votes in the "Favourite imperial faction!" topic. You are giving good comments already though. Yes that would be a great idea. Perhaps it's possible to have the ships of CGH, Bonaparte, Blackmoor, Perfectionist and me at Legoworld, Zwolle next year That would make a nice display! I think the second picture would have been better for editing, but I got it only after I finished the first one.Especially the red lines of the Achille look much better in real, but anyway. And I did it all with paint Ok, now it's clear - you are a master of PAINT! - I didn't thought you used paint, since it's really great work and looked a lot like photoshop or a simelar programm! But one questions is still in my mind - How did you transport your ships? I'm allways afraid to carry the Ares around - since I fear her masts will colapse on me - but travel with them through the lands seems more challenging. Quote

I put her in the trunk of a car (a Volkswagen Golf). A few pillows around her made sure she wouldn't move. Apart from one 1x2 tile which fell off the bow no damage was taken; I didn't even drive carefully! I am too wondering how exactly Admiral Croissant achieved that incredible editing with paint. Maybe he'll tell me some day. Quote

And I did it all with paint nice to know someone else uses paint too! you should try a program called "GIMP" it is very good for creating effects like that, and its FREE! you can also try out another free site called Squirlz water reflections (watch a tutorial on youtube by cannedgravy) Quote

I knew about GIMP. But I think I'll stick with paint Squirlz bay be a good idea though. I think I'll give it a try some time. Quote
