brickmack Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 It's meant to be an exploration ship. I added in old grey in a few dozen random places to make it old and used. When finished, it will be 2 decks, and around 70-80 studs long probably. If anyone has any naming ideas, they might be used. Bridge: Main Engineering (unfinished): Science Station: The crew so far (Will be adding more crewmembers when I get more of those red torsos) Left to right: random engineer/science officer (haven't decided yet), Science Officer, Helmsman/Junior Science Officer, Captain, Tactical Officer, 2 Engineers Quote
Fuzzylegobricks Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Nice Ship! Where will it go? How about "The Odyssey" or "The Triman"? Quote
Corvus Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Good start. Is that a guy in a wheelchair? If it is, it looks like a great design from what I can see. More pics, please! I suggest getting a Flickr account- the ability to add notes to a picture lets me point things out. It's great for WIPs. Plus there's also a large community of other really experienced builders (some of whom are also on EB). I like the use of three helicopter cockpits. Maybe try moving them up a bit so they're more prominent? A captain's chair is always a must. Quote

CptMugwash Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Cool ship, I must try one sometime, the guy in the wheelchair reminds of the one from alien resurrection does he have a shotgun hiding somehwhere? I look forward to the updates Quote

Nice Ship! Where will it go? How about "The Odyssey" or "The Triman"? Hmmm. The Odyssey sounds quite good. I might use that one. Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I like it, but next time raise the exposure on your camera so we can see the details better! :) Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Nice ship, I like very much the crew! Keep on... Quote

Smack Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 A very good beginning here. I am interested in seeing the progress of this. Please show updates if it is possible, as this is the kind of build I am interested in doing at some point soon. I am interested in where the 2nd deck will be. Quote

I'm deciding how I will go about finishing this, because I have nearly run out of grey/bley bricks (and the sides are mainly basic bricks and slopes, with a few plates added on at different angles for detail and extra shaping). I'm considering taking apart a few other projects I was working on for the parts, unless I can get a lot of bley parts at the PAB wall in Indianapolis. (The lesson here: Never work on 5 different projects at the same time if you have less than 100,000 parts in your collection) Anyway, I should have the update up in a week or two, I haven't really made much progress since the first post, other than adding to the height of the bottom deck. Gareth Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 That is a nice ship, I like the guy in the wheel chair. Like 'Corvus' said try moving the tree helicopter cockpits up a bit, I think that would make the bridge look not too set back into the ship and giving it a more panoramic view. Love to see the finished ship. Good work. Quote

Love to see the finished ship. Good work. Yea, I have been thinking of how to go about putting those further up front. I can move them a single stud forward without changing the design much, but that's all. I have been considering the possibility having the bridge be a two deck thing, with a connecting ladder, and the top section would have windows further forward. This is probably the best option so far, but I will have to modify my plans for the top deck (Mainly, moving the crew quarters a few studs back, moving the kitchen somewhere, probably at the back near the escape pods, and changing my design a lot for the bottom bridge.) I would like to do this a lot though, so if I get the parts required, I will add that. Quote
