mostlytechnic Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 After building my two double-long Toy Story cars, there's still several bags of parts left. So I started building some small transport cars. First, we need to haul all that dynamite. Not something I want to pull in my train, but I suppose it's gotta get around somehow. Next, the cow catchers need transported from the foundry to the train factory. Finally, wheels need hauled from the same foundry to the same factory. They are a bit unstable (they dont' fit into the bars very well, so a jerk makes them fall over) but still, it's entertaining to run around. The baseplates for this car are actually the trap door sections from the money car in the original train. After tweaking these for a long time, I decided it was time for bed. Only then did I realize there were still two whole bags of parts left (the upper part of the loco), so I might make some mods later. Those parts are mostly colorful though, so not sure how much I'll actually change. Quote
vgsprites Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Nice little freight cars. Way to use your resources. You gonna make a shunter loco for the freight or just combine it all into one? Great job. Quote

Hi Mostlytechnic, simply beautiful. This is what LEGO is all about. I think your MOCs are catching the original spirit of LEGO: Imagine or dream your model, and build it with the (sometimes simply limited, at least in my world) resources at hand (rather than having gazillions of bricks and create the most realistic real world model). With your models: You did it! I love the cars and particularly the freight. All the best, Thorsten Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Neat set of cars and a great idea for use of the leftover parts Did all that dynamite come in two sets? Or is that comprised of three? Quote

In these days I'm playing with my son and I saw how it's simple for him to realize MOCs with very few pieces... Quote

That dynamite is from 2 sets. Each of the Western Train sets has a crate and 4 bundles of boom. Quote

I believe children (and people who seem to never grow up) really have it: Imagination. All that "life-experience" not in the way, just plain imagination. They "see" things easily, they are real artists. And "LEGO" is the way to go when you like to create stuff from little sticky pieces (of course, there are many other ways to do that!) - limited to the "pieces-sticking-together" at hand. Well, have fun you guys! All the best, Thorsten Quote
