lightningtiger Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Haven't you heard 'vexorian' we of the male breed are not that bright.....so many woman say ! It's good to see at least stereotypes being busted, it would have been better to have a girl plumber or mechanic ! Quote
wooootles Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 It's a sad state of affairs when I'm more inclined to buy something from this line than yet another Fire/Police in the actual 'boys' CITY line. Is there something wrong with me? Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I spy now a spray bottle ! Oh, please.....different colours and more containers....maybe a supermarket would be nice in this theme....then I would city-ize it ! Quote
Modulex Guy Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Okay, I'm sold. I'll be buying this entire line for sure! If not multiples of each! I love the fact that these are packed with accessories that will fit into existing city lines and are minifig scale. I do not care much for the figures in these sets, but I do love the beautiful variety of parts and colors! Quote
The Blue Brick Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I just got back from vacation today, and the first thing I did was go on Eurobricks, and what do you know. There are pictures of all of these amazing sets. The colors are amazing, there are so many new pieces, and I was blown away with the designs of these sets. I will totally buy multiples of these like Polish Guy said already. I just have one question left though. Are these going to be hard to find, like only sold in lego stores, or are they going to be selling them at Walmart and Target too? Quote
Haltiamieli Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 (edited) Wow, a bunch of very good-looking sets - has TLC finally got it right? I really think this theme could be a big seller among the target group and even outside of it. It looks so much better than Belville. AFOLs will never forgive the abnormal cutiefigs, of course, but there's much for us too. A lot of new molds for example. It's a shame that all the animals (except butterflies?) will be quite useless, but it was already known from the earlier Asian leak. On the other hand, there seems to be some new flower molds (or maybe old Scala ones, never seen those in real life?), and all in all I'm happily surprised by the amount of greenery in the sets. My favourite set is 3315, but 3065 is close behind. 3933 is great in that it goes against the "Girly theme" stereotypes, but personally I don't find much that would interest me in it - I'm a Castle sort of guy, after all. Are these going to be hard to find, like only sold in lego stores, or are they going to be selling them at Walmart and Target too? It's quite clear that TLC is really pushing for this theme, just looking at the amount of sets etc. Come next year, I'm sure these will be found in more or less every shop that sells Lego (and maybe some that didn't). Are these going to be hard to find, like only sold in lego stores, or are they going to be selling them at Walmart and Target too? That's a very good question! here in the UK, lego is very much part of the boys territory in toy shops - sure oftenthe construction toys are all together, but they're almost always with the boys stuff, and alot of places such as supermarkets and high street shops haven't carried the girls ranges before. It's just been big, specialist toy shops. Quote
prateek Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 This is awesome. The only thing I see that is wrong with this is the potentially expensive pieces! Quote
Aanchir Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Don't exaggerate. It is not like they tried to go with minifig scale. They could have match it instead of 'getting closest'. They may think normal minfigs won't sell, but everything points towards they not being good at determining what sells and what does not in the girls market. Everyone is so all right with Technic figs are so all right that they are incredibly hard to find in MoCs. The best thing about this theme is that with the inevitable fail in sales, the sets will be be very discounted and make great parts packs. At least some of the good designs and pieces will be put in use. Exactly-- past girls' themes haven't been too successful. And this is exactly the reason why they wouldn't invest extra in new figures if they thought the ones they had would work just fine. The fact that the results of TLG's market research haven't attracted enough girls to date is a stupid reason to assume that ignoring all their market research would attract more girls. I find your negative attitude extremely insulting. Do you honestly believe that you know more about what girls tend to like than people who have put time and money into researching that very subject? If not, then don't act as though the failure of all girls' themes or all non-minifigure themes is a foregone conclusion. Need I remind you that Belville lasted for a very long time despite consistent AFOL disapproval? A "failure" in the opinion of AFOLs rarely has anything to do with whether a new theme is profitable. Whether this theme lives or dies depends on whether kids like it, and I see no obvious reason why they wouldn't. Quote
Brickity Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 (edited) The pieces are really cool! And the hairpieces will probably be compatible with regular minifigs. Too bad I'm going to look odd buying these, among the people in stores, and among my parents :s EDIT: Look what I found!!! EDIT Bonaparte: Link removed on request of LEGO. It looks like a mannequin head (regular minifig head)with one of those hairstyles! The bad thing is that the plastic used for some of the hairpieces looks weird (and by weird I mean, probably cheaper), and some of them actually look like if they have two mixed colors.. I hope they are still protos. Edited September 16, 2011 by Bonaparte Please don't deeplink watermarked images Quote
lisqr Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 This theme is going to be great! So many new molds. I think there's a new flower piece that goes on the normal stem. I love the lipstick piece, perfect for a Gatling gun... wait... Quote
Darkdragon Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 I think this theme looks great! With so many sets, it seems to me this is the girlish answer to Ninjago. Now parents can buy sets for both kids and they will be able to play together in the same scale world. Quote
Ricecracker Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 I've changed the topic title to reflect the fact that this is not a city subtheme. Just a heads up, this might be moved out of the Town forum, too. Quote
autobrick Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 I have to say, these sets look really great. I will have to Bricklink the new pieces or maybe even pick up a set or two (of course, if there's anything more embarrassing than buying Lego for yourself as an adult, it would be buying girly Lego for yourself as an adult! ). Set 3935, the one with the girl standing on the ATV really highlights a problem with these 'figs; they can't really sit down properly like a minifig. Looks awkward... It's too bad that TLC won't give the City theme the civilian sets like these. I love the lipstick piece, perfect for a Gatling gun... wait... LOL! Quote
slovakiasteph Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Overall, they're better than I was expecting! I'll definitely pick up a few of the building-oriented ones. Quote
peterab Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 As long as we get Dark Azure 1x2 bricks I'll be happy. Even more happy if there are 1x4 and more 1x6 bricks (they are available in a spongebob set). I think the dogs and cats are usable in city despite being stupidly cute. Some real breeds also look stupidly cute, they are bred that way. There seems to be a couple of different dogs, and two cats unless their heads turn. I'm interested to know if the horse is a new mold, I don't recognise it anyway. The new hair will also be useful to me. All in all while I doubt I'll be buying many of these, I'll be picking up some parts from BL (and maybe LUGBULK) if I can. Quote
squidman85 Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Actually, those sets looks quite glam.Glammer than in Belville.I actually like cafe, barber's,treehouse, car those small sets from the last pages. P.S.They remind me of Jojo's Bizarre Adventures. Quote
David Thomsen Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 I have to admit that these sets are actually pretty adorable, if I ignore the weird doll things. Hey, they actually have differently-coloured skin in a non-licenced theme! If this means they've started breaking the rules, I want an army theme next. Or at least that tank from Indiana Jones. Quote

I'm interested to know if the horse is a new mold, I don't recognise it anyway. I admit I was probably too harsh when I described all the new animal molds as "quite useless" or something like that. It's a bit hard to remember that these really are in quite a good scale with normal minifigure world. As such, especially the bunny might be actually quite passable, much more than the comparatively huge Belville one with printed eyelashes. According to some earlier rumour (probably from Mirandir?) the horse is a new mold with a removable 2x2 part like this instead of the normal 1x2 brick. I wonder what the saddle will look like - is there really none in this wave? Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 I spy again, this time in the house - the male is holding a blue spatula, lets hope for a blue ladle and chef's knife eh ? Well one can only hope ! Oh, and new handlebars on the ATV and lawnmower ! What do others spy in those images ? Quote
romdam Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 I spy again, this time in the house - the male is holding a blue spatula, lets hope for a blue ladle and chef's knife eh ? Well one can only hope ! Oh, and new handlebars on the ATV and lawnmower ! What do others spy in those images ? Now here's the thing. I talked this line up to about 10 mothers at my job whose kids love Lego. When talking about the early stages, they all were excited. Thier sons had sets and the daughters played with them some but mainly collected the Collectible Minifigures. The parents were excited to ge the girls sets of their own, that tey could play along with their brothers and incorperate the collectible figures that they love into them. When I passed around the pictures of the sets, all the parents were in disgust. I was getting questions I had no idea what to say. "How is girls to play and mix in sons city with figures like THIS?". A lo of the comments I can't say the words that were used. Basically "they look like dung". Seriously, take all your guys' AFOL ideas for pieces o add to your own MOC modular outhouses and city block long semis and think for a second. Boy has so and so sets of his own; girl will have so and so sets TO JOIN IN PLAYING WITH BROTHER; irl gets totally different sets that has no place being side by side with a Ciy Corner. Dont get me wrong, the idea was good. The execution not. MOC's will be loving them tho so be it what it may. Quote
cimddwc Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Oh, and new handlebars on the ATV and lawnmower ! Guess they were necessary since the poor girls can't turn their hands... What do others spy in those images ? A lot of nice elements usable for cities. I'll certainly get some of these sets for mine – for instance, the café fits nicely in a park or on a beach, and the beauty shop makes a good ground floor of a modular house; maybe also the vet without the horse stable. Now if Poland gets these sets in April (=kwietnia according to Google Translate; stycznia=January, by the way), there's not much hope we'll get them sooner elsewhere, or is there...? Quote
jonwil Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Some of the new moulds in this line look GOOD. the 3933 lab set is GREAT, especially the blackboard, blue tool wheel, drawers (can always use more of those) and is that the beaker from the Collectable Figures scientist? Can anyone tell what the trans-red red part on the microscope is? Almost looks like a 1 x 1 cone but not quite. The fashion studio set also looks good with the camera, more drawers, ruler piece, laptop and other things. Is that a piano in the set with the singer? There is definatly a new flower piece in some of these sets, the orange ones in the vet look new to me. The stable door in the vet surgeon is cool, hopefully it appears in other colors in other sets in the future (brown would be nice, as would black). Cafe is also cool with the cupcake and whatever the thing with the handle is that you can see through the window in the center of the picture (near the confidential stamp) As for the house, I spy the new handbag, a flipper thing in the hand of the guy at the bbq as well as what looks like a new blue bowl piece and it looks like the bbq itself has some new parts. Looks like a possible new part for the arms of the swing and a new set of handlebars on the lawnmower. Quote
Bricksan Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 The sets look good my daughter will love them and I have save the photo if anyone wants it. Quote
McBuddha Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Hehehe. My five year old girl, Signe, wants them ALL. NOW! :) We were drooling over the images this morning and she was VERY happy about all this. Even my dear wife, her mum, showed some pretty nice enthusiasm. As always, my bank account will be the emtpiest space in universe when the sets are released.... I really like the awesome colors. So many new details as well. The flower pieces, the lipsticks... ...we´re probably gonna build a cage of those for the HP dementors... :D Cheers from Sweden! Quote
