I'm started to build a pick-up truck , i like it to be 2x4 and shifted to 4x4 . Now i need a gearbox that in 2x4 mode the front wheels are not powered and just run along.

i tried some ideas , but i think i'm thinking too difficult.

Try this:

You don't really need the second driving ring, that's just if you also want the option of locking the central diff.

thanx this looks great , only thing i have to shop at bricklink for this type of diff. And i think i will use the diff.lock aswell

edit: whahaha found one , just start to build again

I build it it works great, havent tried it motorized though.

Looks nice and big so far, nice one.

Just one concern tho so far, please don't think i'm knitpicking but I fear those two 8 tooth gears driving the diff are gonna a weak point given the huge power coming from two XL motors and Sariels very strong gearbox.
