snaillad Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 hi everyone, I currently own both the '10197 fire station' and the '10211 grand emporium' already but want another! Love the fire station, was not sure about the grand emporium at first but has grown on me greatly after using pieces for other projects. I make MOC's on a town theme, particularly older buildings, so the many green windows from the grand emporium are fantastic and cannot be bough on PAB. It also comes with a very healthy amount of useful tan. The fire station on the other hand has alot medium grey, dark tan and the dark red colour which I love and also the 1x1 flat dark red tiles for creating the brick gap effect around the windows, again cant get on PAB. Do I go for the cheaper option fire station while its still around or spend a little more on the GE? Whats more useful? Your thoughts? Help me spend my money while its still double points! Brickdoctor Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 There's a thread for this here. I would go with Fire Brigade because, as you've said, it's not going to be around as long as the Grand Emporium, and these modular sets always go for a fortune on Bricklink once they're discontinued. Quote

He mentioned using pieces for MOC so it becomes a "which has better pieces" issue. If you can get FB cheaper, I would put Fire Brigade on priority. It also has good rare MOC colors: dark red and dark tan in bunches. Tan, in comparison, is almost everywhere these days (not saying tan is a bad color though) Plus this may be the year FB retires. I know it's not a MOD but still has a good selection of parts IMO, plus you could buy 2 for the price of 1 MOD, it would be something different. Cheers. Quote
