Bart Posted March 22, 2011 Author Posted March 22, 2011 thanks for the link captain Becker. not quit sure what you meant by thining the masts. I made theme like this because I wanted the extensions to become smaller, next thing to do will be the bowsprit, which will be made out of two pieces, and then I will force myself to do the interior, turn the decks and let them curve up towards the bow and stern. Admiral Croissant Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Perhaps this is useful: It may seem a bit chaotic, but I made the correct lenth of the 3 mast parts red. In the corner you can see how the figurehead/bow part of your ship can be improved. And you can also see that (if you want to take this ship for reference) you could place the fore mast even more forward. Quote

BrickPerfection Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Perhaps this is useful: Great picture, Admiral! Well, I think it's interesting how you've made the headrails with dragon wings, but it does not really feel appropriate here. While it looks good from the top or bottom, they do not look like headrails should from any other angle; and they don't curve properly either. If it only wasn't LDD you could use this sweet hose technique Take a look at this: Quote
Bart Posted April 6, 2011 Author Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) I started planking the hull, which is just a fancy way of saying filling up the gaps between my frames, and I put the first four canons in place. I think I will only plank the larboard side and leave the starboard side open, with only the frames and the "those beams I represent with the black tiles (not yet finished) which usually are installed right after the frames are put up and before the planks are put on to keep the frames in place." I don't know there names in English nor Dutch, I also started with the stern colour/decoration, but that will be something for the next post ;) Bart Edited April 6, 2011 by Bart Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Looks promising. Although the main beam of the headrails could use a bit more of a curve. I like the colourscheme. It does look quite dutch, mainly brown and with some colour at the forecastle and around the mizzen mast. But the stern is usually the most beautiful part, with the most details, so I'm looking forward to the next update. Quote
Bart Posted April 10, 2011 Author Posted April 10, 2011 (edited) I made some progress on the stern, but I'm a bit stuck now. it looks like its missing something but I don't know what.. the two mini-figs are carrying the coat of arms of my home town, the two fish represent two pikes (that's a fish species) behind the lower windows are the officers quarters and the upper the admiral/captain and so. I also made a start with the galleries but the look too high ?? I definitely have to do something about the brown edge. that is the frame, it has to be changed (in to blue/gold) Bart Edited April 10, 2011 by Bart Quote
