L@go Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Hello, fellow Eurobrickers! I went through a building frenzy in early February, and I've already showed you some of the results here. I did, however, also build a semi trailer. Now, while I do know quite a lot about cars, I'm not very good with trucks, apart from the fact that I know what they look like. Which means that there might be some details here that aren't all that realistic. If you spot any, feel free to let me know :) This is a flatnose truck, built to look something like a Renault. As with the vehicles in the other post, I designed it in MLCad, then ordered the bricks and built it. It's white and grey, but I wanted an extra accent colour to make it stand out a bit more, and went with dark green. Which became a bit troublesome, as the parts available in that colour weren't the ones that I needed... still, it worked out quite alright. The cab features a reclining chair, because I felt that there wasn't enough room for a bed. As it turned out, there wasn't really enough room for a reclining chair, either, so the driver won't fit. Especially not with his hat on. But it's there, anyway. There are two storage compartments under the cab, one featuring a set of tools, the other a fire extinguisher, and stuck to the back of the cab is a shovel and a pushbroom. It also features a rear view mirror design that I can't remember having seen anywhere else before. The trailer has two doors in the back (surprise) and one in the front, giving access to the refrigerator mechanism. And the whole thing put together is quite huge - about 51 studs long in all. Not something you'd easily sneak around your town's Café Corner in. That's about it, I think. Here are some pictures - more can be found in my vehicle photoset on Flickr. Feel free to comment :) Quote
Fuzzylegobricks Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 I say it is Great for a car maker! I did not know you could buy the creation from Mlcad. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Very well done truck L@go! I really like the idea of creating your own design instead of following the current city truck builds. That reclining chair is a pretty neat detail, and the overall clean and conservative look is very refreshing for a semi-trailer truck. Great job! Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Excellent prime mover and trailer combo 'L@go', a nice clean look....all that's missing is Chrome-bright ! Hope to see more of these from you 'L@go' and always....Brick On ! Quote
L@go Posted March 6, 2011 Author Posted March 6, 2011 Thanks for the nice comments! Never thought about adding chrome to it, but maybe that would be a good idea, although I feel that's more of an American phenomenon and not so common on European trucks. I did not know you could buy the creation from Mlcad. Oh, you can't - I made a list and ordered them via BrickLink :) Quote
CptMugwash Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 That's a real purty truck ya got thar Any thoughts about a logo on the side or something to break up the whiteness? Would look nice in my town but I have too many trucks. Good job Quote
MetroiD Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Good job; reminds me a bit of Selander's trucks (and I mean that in a very positive way, not that you've copied an idea or anything!). Nice to know that there's another fan of long vehicles around! Quote
Fuzzylegobricks Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Oh, you can't - I made a list and ordered them via BrickLink :) oh ok Thanks! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Neat flat head semi L@go I love the cab and the choice of colors. A really great MOC Quote
Out of Sight Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 A great minifig scale of the Renault Magnum truck! You could add another pair of wheels on the trailer to make it a tri-axle trailers found on most European trucks, and add a deep aerodynamic side skirting on the trailer for that typical modern European box trailer I found the real truck in white too that side skirting I was talking about Quote
mostlytechnic Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Skirts on trailers is starting to happen in the USA as well. I've noticed it a LOT recently (here in Ohio at least). Usually they're plain white and taper in at the front (so they're not even with the cab's wheels; they're more towards the center of the trailer) and slope outwards to the trailer's wheels. Occasionally I see printed ones matching the trailer. Quote
