UsernameMDM Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 I hope this means the spaceman's gun is being mass produced and will be really easy to get at bl. It will be available in the Alien Conquest sets.
Cara Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 The northern california legos stores had new torsos in recently. Among them is a new blacktron body. It is similar to the Blacktron 1 body but has silver touches to the printing and the lime logo on the left shoulder. The back of the body is printed with the utility belt. There are also new city torsos, some I recognise from the new sets (like the blue shirt policeman) but others like the orange female flowers and halter top torso that I don't.
vexorian Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 (edited) It will be available in the Alien Conquest sets. But not in the least expensive set. It will be hard to mass it :) The northern california legos stores had new torsos in recently. Among them is a new blacktron body. Blondie-Wan Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 This is wonderful! I know many people weren't able to get nearly as many of these minifigures as they'd like; getting another crack at them is going to be much appreciated. I should point out this isn't technically a rerelease of Minifigures, Series 1 (i.e., LEGO set #8683). This is a rerelease of parts from that set - while to most of us it amounts to essentially the same thing (we can get cool minifigures of zombies, cheerleaders, cavemen, etc.), there's a difference between building minifigures in the Build-A-Minifigure section and buying a little packet that comes with one complete minifigure with matching parts and accessories (plus the 4x3 tile w/ one row of studs for a base, plus the mini-poster instruction sheet). That's really good news, as I missed a few s1 figures. However, I have no LEGO stores near me ! LEGO, you really need to make a branch in Scotland! I don't have a store particularly close to me, either, though I do get to visit one every once in a while. I hope April is just the month that these parts arrive in the sections, and that they may continue to be found there after April's over, at least for a little while. It would make it easier for those of us who can visit the stores only sporadically. I really do not think that all the parts will be there, I would guess it's going to be from the least popular minifigs. What would be the point of that? If this is meant to attract buyers to the store, it doesn't make sense to deliberately withhold the most desirable elements and add to the BAM mixes only those elements that people least care about (out of this series). I'm guessing it'll just be random pieces of all the minifigs. Wouldn't it substantially lower the value of the rarer first series (for those who invested largely in them) if even one of the minifigs was made widely available? Sure, but... so? The minifigures are intended to be toys, not investments. They're collectible, yes, but as far as LEGO's concerned that's just another aspect of their play value, not a signifier that they're meant to go up in market value. I'm sure TLG is of course well aware that many if not most of their products start rising in value on the secondary market once they're discontinued, but that's not really intended to be the driving force behind thousands of products aimed principally at kids with single-digit ages. And TLG doesn't get the money when something is sold from one collector to another, of course. I think they'd rather do what they can to satisfy their core customers (who include many, many kids who weren't able to get as many of the Series 1 minifigures as they'd like) than the relatively small percentage of speculators among their AFOLs (who themselves are a relatively small percentage of their overall customer base). I have to wonder why they're doing this. Originally, wasn't the Build-a-'Fig meant to sell off pieces that they had extras of? The way they're going about this, announcing it in the calendars, doesn't make it sound like they're just getting rid of some extra S1 parts. That being said, I'm all for this and I hope to be able to pick up some of the many S1 'figs I missed out on. I actually think that is the point - I suspect they've produced another bunch of parts for the S1 MFs precisely because they were so caught off guard by the interest in them, and the demand outstripped the intial supply. TLG certainly should be well aware there's still lots of demand for forestmen, zombies, etc., so this is a way to get more of those figures out there (while still technically not nullifying the status of 8683 as a limited production set, since these aren't being sold as the set but instead in piecemeal fashion). I, too, look forward to the opportunity to have another crack at some of these minifigures without resorting to Bricklink, eBay and the like. I did manage to get at least two of each the first time around, but I certainly would like some more of some of them - in fact, there's not one figure from Series 1 I wouldn't like to have at least one more of. I do hope all the parts are available.
MCNwakeboard Posted March 8, 2011 Author Posted March 8, 2011 According to a Lego Store employee on the Series 1 figures in the BAM bin: "The latest word I heard was no acessories, but torsos, legs, heads, hats and hair are coming from series 1 Minifigures"

Wouldn't mind picking up a couple more forestman torsos also.
SilentMode Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Great news! Hopefully it's not just happening in the States, because Westfield could use a greater variety of BAF parts.

I can accessorise forestmen and zombies
Blondie-Wan Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 While some accessories (club and pom poms) would have been great, just having the people is a big plus! I can accessorise forestmen and zombies Indeed! Heck, I don't even need more of the exact same accessories included with some of them, but I definitely want more of the minifigure body parts. I absolutely want at least one more crash test dummy, for example (I'd like to have at least four, for crash tests at full vehicle occupancy, naturally ), but I don't really need more of basically the same wrench included in lots of other sets. The license plate 2x1 tile is very nice and immensely useful to have at least one or two of (for a single vehicle), but of course if multiple vehicles in the real world all have the same license plate numbers, it defeats the whole purpose of the plate, so... But that said, I do plan to pick up more of most of the accessories anyway if they do turn out to be there after all, even the license plate tile.
Big Cam Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I'm guessing it'll just be random pieces of all the minifigs. Wouldn't it substantially lower the value of the rarer first series (for those who invested largely in them) if even one of the minifigs was made widely available? I beg to differ. LEGO doesn't care what happens to the aftermarket price of the collectable figs, as that has no profit in it for them. TLG made their money selling series 1 through their stores and retail stores. This is another way for LEGO to make more money off of something that was extremely popular.
Solscud007 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 All I care about is getting like 4 zombies and a robot. WHOOO HOOO!!!! I hope those two figures make it into the mini bar bin

TLG made their money selling series 1 through their stores and retail stores. This is another way for LEGO to make more money off of something that was extremely popular. That's fine by me. Aftermarket sellers are just capitalizing on a shortage that LEGO created in the first place. The fact that many sellers also consume the majority of the product in their local markets doesn't endear many of them to me either. I'm actually glad that LEGO is giving more people the opportunity to acquire these figures. Even without accessories this is a fantastic opportunity to diversify my collection of minifig heads, headgear and torsos. I'm definitely looking forward to picking up a few more nurse heads and caveman beards. This looks like a great way to get the parts I want at a great price even if there aren't any accessories.
Mr. Gray Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Fantastic! Maybe I'll finally be able to get a Forestman fig! Even without the extras, this is fabulous news!
Harrypotterfreak Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 EEEE!!! I'll FINALLY get a Zombie!!!!! Thank GOD!!! I missed out on Series 1 completely!!! I'd really like the accessories, but Hell, I'm just glad I'm getting another chance to get these!!!
Cara Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 (edited) The Santa Clara and San Mateo LEGO store got these figures in this week. (But no accessories.) They have the magician with hat but I didn't see his hair, the clown and the forestman only. There was also the blonde hair long pony tail of the cheerleader and her head. And the nurse's head. There might have been the nurse's hair but I didn't know to look for it at the time. As a bonus they also have mermaids!!!!! (the shell bra torso and the silver scaled fish). Donut Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Thanks for the update Cara! It's great to see the forestman and clown making their way into the bin. I think the mermaids are extra production parts from the fairy tale set. Tomorrow, I am going to check out the store closest to me and see if they have updated their mini-figure bin.

MCNwakeboard Posted March 27, 2011 Author Posted March 27, 2011 (edited) According to a store employee, it doesn't look like they will be getting all 16 in this first batch if at all, but it is nice that you were able to find different parts in your lego stores.
