TypoCorrecto Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Any ideas on replacing the spring that goes to this part? Bricklink was a no-go... Thank you... Quote
Skull-Mark_Ladybug Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Well you can try contacting Lego to see if they can send you a replacement which may or may not work. Or you can just order the whole assembly off of Bricklink Quote
bricked one Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 If that doesn't work you can always use a rubber band. Quote
TypoCorrecto Posted March 2, 2011 Author Posted March 2, 2011 Thanks for the suggestions. I have the complete assembly minus the spring and didn't want to buy a whole new assembly. I'll try the rubber band and look around for a suitable spring replacement. Thanks again... Quote
Vindicare Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 (edited) What about a spring out of those click top pens? Might be the right size... Edited March 2, 2011 by Legocrazy81 Quote
Syn Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 http://www.leespring.com/browse_catalog.asp?springType=C I love the interwebs. Quote
Tobbe Arnesson Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 http://www.leespring.com/browse_catalog.asp?springType=C I love the interwebs. It's not an compression spring, but yeah. :) This link would be better: http://www.leespring.com/extension_spec.asp?springType=E&forWhat=Search Kinda hard to tell the dimensions when the spring is missing, but perhaps some Eurobricker can do the measurements? I don't own that part otherwise I could help you my self. Quote
TypoCorrecto Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 Thanks for the site. I'm waiting on a response from TLG and if that fails, I'll turn to Leespring. Thanks again... Quote
Seluryar Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 (edited) Syn, i believe he might be more interested in the extension springs on that website since he may not have the tools required to make the loops at both ends of the spring Edited March 3, 2011 by Seluryar Quote
iragm Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 I cannot believe the specs for these springs are nowhere to be found on the internet, so I'm bumping a decade-old thread with this info. I grabbed some calipers and measured one of my existing springs: Outside diameter: 0.135 in / 3.44 mm Wire diameter: 0.01 in / 0.3 mm Max extended length: 3.24 in / 82 mm (for large forklift) Body length: 0.5 in / 12.8 mm Free length aka length: 0.72 in / 18 mm The leespring link earlier in this thread wanted $8 a spring which is absolutely highway robbery, makes the BL sellers for this part seem reasonable. On Aliexpress, I found some 20 mm length, 0.3 mm wire diameter, 3 mm outer diameter springs, 10 for a dollar with free shipping. I won't link to the store directly as Ali sellers come and go and stores tend to raise prices if they get linked to often, but a simple search for "Tension spring 20 mm o hook" ought to find you some good options. If the 20 mm ones are not available, 15 mm ones should work too. And 4 mm outer diameter is probably also fine. These work great; they are a couple mm too long (duh!) the loops at the end are every so slightly smaller than the original (but still loop fully over the pin and stay on just fine), and they require slightly more force to extend than the original. But, if I didn't have the original spring to compare them to, I doubt I would be able to tell the difference between these and the OEM springs. I would say these are just about perfect, and recommend them highly. Quote

Thank you very much for the dimensions, just last week i found a forklift piece in a bulk lot but the spring was missing obviously. I looked on aliexpress but couldn't find the kind of deal you were mentioning, would you be able to send me a link please? Quote
