Alasdair Ryan Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 (edited) am looking for ideas for 2 pf controllers to be (pined together )then linked together in some way that when one is controller is turned on (in both directions) the other controller will be off,the only time the other controller will be on will be when the other is in the off position, i hope you understand below is a quick diagram well it was until i posted it (lay them side by side in you head ) first controller on off on second controller off on off Edited February 26, 2011 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
DLuders Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Sariel has some ideas for single Power Functions controller handsets; maybe you could pin two of them side by side. He pointed out that TechnicBRICKS has lots of good ideas too. You may be able to adapt some of the designs to do what you have described above. Quote
DLuders Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Crowkillers has 7 pictures of a design in his Brickshelf gallery that you could possible double-up with Technic pins: Quote
FelixTheCat Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 You could hold the remote with 2 hands. When you're operating controller 1 with your left hand, make sure you're right hand does nothing and vice versa But seriously, I think more info is needed. You have 2 channels per remote, red and blue. Do your needs apply to both channels on each remote? Also, what kind of control are you seeking? Rotary control, stick control, buttons? Perhaps you need a diagram of the control you would like with arrow directions showing the desired output from each channel on each remote. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 i was thinking for brake lights that thay only would come on the the other controller is off,but would stay off when the other controller is on in both dereactions hope this helps Quote

AndyC Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 felix you will be pleased to know i will use my hands Actually, I wonder if you could adopt one of the return-to-center steering ideas, so that when the engine stops a switch is pushed into the 'on' position, rather than doing it on the remote. Not sure how feasible that is though.... Quote

That makes sense. You would probably need a spring to hold the brake light controller in the on position. The use a wheel/crankshaft arrangement hooked up to your forward/back controller which has a pushrod at the top and bottom both facing toward your brake controller lever. That way you will get a forward movement which can push the brake controller to the centre position no matter which way the forward/back is pushed. If you're having trouble visualizing what I'm trying to say think of a 2 cylinder engine lying on it's side. Input comes through the crankshaft and the 2 pistons are the outputs. Quote
