Plastic Nurak Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 (edited) I'm working a bit on the central part of the chassis (mainly studded) and on studless rear suspension (with differential and gears for transmission - I hope in this case to do no mistake calculating gear ratios). I'm not sure if it's better for a car to choose 6.5L shock absorber or the 9.5L one. If I choose the first one, I'll double it on every side to strengthen suspension. I'm unsure, I need please some advice. Thanks. Edited February 19, 2011 by Plastic Nurak Quote
DLuders Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 (edited) How much suspension travel do you want? What is the scale of your model? You could also consider the 11.5L 48912c01 "Technic, Shock Absorber 11.5L, Complete Assembly": Here is a Eurobricks post that discusses how to increase the Lego Technic Shock Absorber stiffness. It contains this chart to show that different-colored shocks have different stiffnesses: Edited February 19, 2011 by DLuders Quote
Plastic Nurak Posted February 19, 2011 Author Posted February 19, 2011 Thanks, Ddluders. No, I think the 11.5 long is unnecessary. My bad sketches of car shape suggest it can be 1:10 or better 1:9. Upper body will be modular, but it will be surely a bit studded, more Model Team-like than studless Technic style. Quote
RockeTeK Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 (edited) 1:10 is somewhat the scale of the 8880 supercar aswell (and that model has double suspension on each wheel). I suggest you use double suspension on every wheel (either 6,5L or 9,5L depending on the type of vehicle. Edited February 19, 2011 by RockeTeK Quote
Plastic Nurak Posted February 20, 2011 Author Posted February 20, 2011 (edited) Yes, I'm going to use the double suspension. To sustain the weight I'll surely use 9.5L. When I'll finish to build the chassis, I'll post here some photo (I bet my head that, after your advices and criticisms, I'll have to rebuild something ).
