cavegod Posted March 29, 2011 Author Posted March 29, 2011 This looks HUGE - somehow looks bigger than marshal_bananas' probably because there's no background on his latest image. There's really so much difference in the tones of reddish brown or is that down to the camera too? Still can't wait to see this finished - looking awesome so far. BTW you wouldn't be interested in donating this to a charity that helps potato-headed AFOLs re-grow their hair would you? i believe that it is 2 studs wider than Marshall's to be realistic it should be another 2 studs wider but hey ho it'l do. yeah the reddish browns are very vaired in tones, on that first picture there are only 2 1x8 bricks 1 2x2 tile 6 1x2 tiles 1 1x8 tile 8 1x4 tiles the rest is either reddish, drk brown/orange! i believe charity begins at home lol ask nicely when it's finished and i will pop round with it for you to see! cavegod Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 just a few pics to show the difference with the flash on and off Quote
drdavewatford Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 It's coming along nicely, Pete - can't wait to see it at NSC ! Cheers, D. Quote

cavegod Posted April 13, 2011 Author Posted April 13, 2011 Ok a small update and i need some opinions, The roof is almost finished apart from the front: Also it was annoying me that when viewed from above the shape at the front did not match the SM so a little tinkering later i now have sloped sides at the front: So my question is does it look better like this or as before and if any changes are to be made what would they be? Quote
cavegod Posted April 14, 2011 Author Posted April 14, 2011 come on guys stop drooling over the SSD and give me some feedback lol Quote
Mr Man Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I'm back Hi cavegod. Hmm I think it looks better before, it looks a little to sloped now. Quote
green dewback Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Very impressive brown beast of the desert. Looking forward to the final youtube video. Quote
cavegod Posted April 14, 2011 Author Posted April 14, 2011 I'm back Hi cavegod. Hmm I think it looks better before, it looks a little to sloped now. it is sloped though http://www.modelermagic.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/kg_aa_sandcrawler-139-150x150.jpg Quote

cavegod Posted April 14, 2011 Author Posted April 14, 2011 I meant TOO sloped sorry oh looking at the SM the sides are sloped more than my lego version. Quote
cavegod Posted April 14, 2011 Author Posted April 14, 2011 I think you will agree that this version 2 of the front sides is near perfect and it is also stable compared to the previous version. Anyway let me know your thoughts. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Still looking great; brown greebling is lovely. Quote
Masked Builder Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Hey it's looking good. I do like how you've mixed the brown and the orange color. Quote
cavegod Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 Another small update i'm waiting on Bricklink orders as usual but left to do now is the front ramp the rear emgines detail and 3 crawler assemblies throw a load of PF parts inside and it should be finished! Quote
Blackknight112 Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Cant wait to se this HUGE monster move on its own. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Those pieces used for the windows look really good. Are you going to make them (the windows) yellow? Quote
cavegod Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 (edited) i'm gonna see how the pf lights look with a trans yellow filter??? if i can mount trans yellow glass behind them that would be better i think, the biggest problem will be light leak around the roof join as even with the elastic bands fitted theres a slight gap (no elastic band fitted in the previous pics) Edited May 10, 2011 by cavegod Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 i'm gonna see how the pf lights look with a trans yellow filter??? Ah. You could just put trans-yellow 1x2 plates on the insides of the windows and then light the area in general. Or is that what you meant? Quote
cavegod Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 yeah that would work but i would have studs in the windows :-( Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 yeah that would work but i would have studs in the windows :-( Good point. So... trans-yellow plates and tiles, then? Quote
