Lobot Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Highly impressive, I can’t wait to see this finished. The detailing at the back is superb and the shape looks very close to the original. This must have cost a fortune to build.....! Cheers, Robin Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 How do u obtain so many bricks?! Bricklink costs a fortune - 10,000 bricks must cost, well - thousand dollars? Atleast that much. Finding sellers with the sheer number of bricks needed is tough Time too - must take months to obtain parts and months more to build - I assume ur dragged from the lab a few times a week for a pesky employment of sorts? Anyway, amazing and intimidating stuff Quote

Anyway, amazing and intimidating stuff So far it has cost me £800 GBP all sourced from Bricklink and paid for from Bricklink sales from my own shop which at present is my only job as i am unemployed, so time is one thing i have. Finding the parts has not been to hard most have come from UK a few from the EU and a lot from USA/Canada and 1 order from Australia! i suppose most of the cost was shipping but i do not know any other way to obtain the vast array of parts needed any cheaper, and being nearly 98% reddish brown put the cost up. but i think it will be worth it. A total of 5 months buildtime so far with most of that waiting for parts. Quote
TheDarkness Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 An amazing effort cavegod. It's awesome seeing what people come up with when they have alot of bricks and creativity Quote
Ackbar Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 What a powerful MOC! Must weigh tons... Great job, what a assembly of brown pieces The greeble on the back and top are exquisite! Quote
Mr Man Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 So far it has cost me £800. £800. Just seen the price . That's almost a £1000. I suppose it's worth it though . Quote
cavegod Posted June 17, 2011 Author Posted June 17, 2011 Well i have finished the outside but as is the norm i am redesigning the boarding ramp area to be more accurate to the prop! Quote
cavegod Posted June 28, 2011 Author Posted June 28, 2011 Even though i have finished the outside i just can't resist so i am now fitting it with motorised repulsor tubes they will just go up and down but it's another gimmic to impress the kids at shows. Quote
Jedi master Brick Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 This is amazing, looking forward to the finneshed project cavegod Quote
Brickdoctor Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Sounds great. More functions are always better. These are the suction tubes that take up the droids, right? Perhaps you could integrate some rubber pieces to grip and pick up the droid as used in set 7052? Quote
cavegod Posted June 28, 2011 Author Posted June 28, 2011 would be nice but i can't see and advantage of that as the droid would be just hanging there. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 (edited) would be nice but i can't see and advantage of that as the droid would be just hanging there. It could be hidden in the tube, and it wouldn't require any extra motors. You're going to make the tube go up and down already anyways. Edited June 28, 2011 by Brickdoctor Quote
CopMike Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Looking really, really good cavegod - can´t wait for the finished one to roll of the production line ! Quote

cavegod Posted July 1, 2011 Author Posted July 1, 2011 a few pics of the finished exterior, so far it has forward reverse, the front crawlers can pivot left/right for steering and the ramp goes up and down. Quote

I'm running out of jaw dropping emoticons . It's wonderful . Looking at the second pic it looks so used and real ,shame about the background though . Quote
CaptainCRO Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Man...you are my idol! I would kill to have this. I would play with it the whole day putting a hundred jawas in and out and driving it around. All the details, wheels, incredible. And the most awesome thing are the little stairs . Please tell me they cant move cause i will be crying Quote

Please tell me they cant move cause i will be crying i would love the stairs to go up and down but they are moved by hand, maybe i will alter it one day to move, but that woul dmean having the door open and then the ramp extend, while possible i just don't have the pateints at the moment, the repulsor tubes will go up and down remotely though. Brickdoctor Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 I like fashion life and go to buy [snip] and [snip], the [snip] is ok. This spam has been reported. Quote
Lobot Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 (edited) Very impressive, it looks great! It's nice to see the minifigures in the photos to give a better idea of the scale (and it's always good to see a Limited Edition C-3PO as well! ). What plans have you got for the interior? - lots of Technic LEDS are always a good starting point! Edited July 2, 2011 by Lobot Quote
