Omicron Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Clu is the antagonist from Tron: Legacy. Brasso was the key element here. This was the original torso and legs. I think I can say I am the brasso master. :) I am really happy with how this fig came out. Enjoy. -Omi Quote
tin7_creations Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 You ARE the brasso master; this minifig is exquisite! Though I would be conflicted for a long time if I had to destroy a Nizam torso; the fig is not cheap! By the way, how do you keep the brasso from over-flowing and accidentally erasing stuff that you want? I've been using a pink eraser, it works just as well, but it takes forever, and gives me arm cramps. ~tin7_creations Quote

That way I can rub the torso like a mad man and not erase the lines. However it is something to be patient with because I always reapply tape after erasing what I need to get rid of (like I cover up one side of the torso, erase the crap. Remove tape, and cover up the other side, etc etc.). Scotch tape is what I recommend using because it is easy to apply, doesn't rub off accidently (packaging tape does), and it doesn't leave a sticky residue (like masking tape). It is especially handy when you wanna get into those tight spots. -Omi Edited February 16, 2011 by Omicron Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 You ARE the brasso master INDEED. I've never seen anyone pull-off very clean brassoed parts but you Omi, and you've certainly made this your signature technique. Nizam's torso and leg gold prints are simply perfect for Clu, and nice use of Arealight's Clone Commando helmet. Great work as always! BTW, care for a group shot of all the Tron customs that you did? Omicron Posted February 17, 2011 Author Posted February 17, 2011 BTW, care for a group shot of all the Tron customs that you did? Once I get the yellow clikit bead I ordered from Europe (go figure), it shall happen. This particular pic used a sliced trans yellow head. -Omi Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Neat job Omi. So what exactly is this brassoe(?) technique? Am I correct on my observation of the partial removal of the print on the minifig torso and legs by means of a cemical? (i.e. paint thinner) I may consider giving this a go... If this is how to get this result. I'd like to know a few tricks of this trade to "experiment" on a few of my extra torsos Quote

That's what Brasso is: a chemical used to remove the print on LEGO parts (mind you, it has other uses, too ) Quote
Lord Starkiller Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Wow, You ARE the brasso Master! But I am the Sharpie™ Master!!!!! Quote

Unlike paint thinner, it doesn't warp or melt the pieces. -Omi Quote

If it can remove tarnish why not ink. Good to know, thanks Quote
