The ToyFair brought in new Lego sets for brickheads to feast their eyes upon. "My wallet is gonna ache this year" and "I'm gonna get multiples" are common quotes found in the forums. No offense, but do you guys actually follow through with those purchases? Are these simply your wants or do you actually spend the money to get these sets?

Personally, my Lego wish list this year totals 110 USD (as of yet). For me, that is a lot of money to spend on Legos alone. For you guys who have even bigger plans, do you really follow through?

Please don't take this question to heart.

I'm not talking for myself here, since I'd be lucky to get a set over $20 in a year, but as for the majority of the forum, I think people mostly stick to their lists, as they have carefully thought out budgets.

I tend to follow through with 90% plus of what's on my wish list, but I don't make outrageous claims about buying multiples. My wish list is fairly dynamic and now that some pics have come out my wish list is actually shorter. e.g. The Harry Potter Knight bus to me isn't good enough to justify getting it seeing I have the original, the PotC QAR ship didn't live up to my expectations and with the high price tag, it's now off the wish list.

I think there's probably a strong correlation between age and the proportion of a wish list people actually end up purchasing.

Oh, I suppose I do more by impulse. I say I'm not going to buy such and such, but as time goes by, and I need something new to work on, I'll buy sets I never would have thought I was going to buy. I talk a mean game when the new pics come out, but I end up being a sucker. I have a bad feeling I'll end up buying the Dathomir Speeder before the year is out, even though I'd say now "No way!"

In SW, I buy most everything. I probably buy a few City now and then, but those are kind of impulse too.

I'm trying really hard not to. :hmpf_bad:

I don't really plaster my wish-lists on the forum, but I have gotten over twenty copies of the impulse set cannon battle :pir-devil: ( I lost count :look: ). I also have multiples of a lot of sets that cost $100 or less. My multiples typically come from the clearance isle. I know a lot of people on the forum that spend a lot more than I do on Lego, and many spend less. It would be great to spend more, but I do have a few, semi-important expenses like food, house, and video games.

When I do not get a set that I would really like, it's typically because I have made a lot of BL orders.

I tend to buy almost everything on my wishlist. I've been going after the minifigure series since they came out, and intend to get the rest of them when they are released. Now, I must say since Series 1 was released, it has taken some of my cash away from other sets I wanted. But with birthdays and the like, I usually ask for whatever I am missing, and the wife or my parents come through for me.

I always shop when sales are on too. Why spend more then you have too? I eBay a lot, and find that I can get a lot of sets extremely cheap. Patience is key.

2011 is the first time I am really sticking to a "budget" per say. My car needs to paid off in Sept, so that's a priority. Usually I spend around $1000 a year on the hobby, but this year I will try to cut back a little. And that is going to be tough with the stuff already on the wanted list (Maersk Train, CARS, Series 4/5 figs....)

Cheers.

Of course i cant get all what is on my whishlist but im trying to get atleast some of the sets wich are on my wishlist, like this years POTC and new Kindoms sets. Im gonna focus only in POTC line now and maby get only the Kings Carriage from Kindoms. I would have buyed also some Atlantis, HP and SW sets, but they are dang expensive here on Finland at i just have to gave up. So no, i cant get everything, but i try to focus on those sets wichi like most and are worth it and not too expensive. And i mostly focus on "Must have" sets and leave the other sets aay wich im not so intrested.
