Sir E Fullner Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I just got the PF stuff for my Emerald Night last Christmas. Now, though, it's running less like an A3 and more like a kid on a tricycle. Now, for the $100 question: "How do I make my Emerald Night go faster?" Please feel free to post your answers below. Always entertaining, always pondering, always: Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 The easiest way to get a more speed out of the E.N. is to try and add a second large PF motor to the wheels. So literally a $100 answer Splitting the load between the two would allow both to work at full speed. Its the complex drivetrain and moving parts that take torque from the motor. That and because its plastic and not metal (able to be lubed) Other than that you'd be looking into using a non-Lego motor that has a hight rpm but, that would be very difficult and require a a bit of electronic know how. hoeij Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Now, for the $100 question: "How do I make my Emerald Night go faster?" Download the latest issue of railbricks magazine, it discusses the modifications you have to make to the E.N. to make it run properly. Quote
BillytheKid Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Add a petrol V12 to the train and it goes like a racecar . Make sure the big wheels are turning exactly the same. A pic says more than 1000 words: The wheels need to turn very easily, so make sure the wheels ain't to tight to the brick where the axel goes. Quote

Nice idea, but I'd have to wait for Christmas to come back again. Way too long to wait. Add a petrol V12 to the train and it goes like a racecar . I can see the extra gear on the back wheel. I think I'll try that when I get home. Thanks everyone for all your help. Quote
