Decale Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Hello everyone! Today I'll show you something I've been wanting to do for a long time now, and that I made in a way I'm very familiar with: (strictly) limited parts MOC. For some reasons, I'm away from my main collection but have managed to carry with me a 1x2 storage brick with: - 2259-1: Skull Motorbike (not used here) - 2516-1 Ninja training Outpost - 8014 Clone walker battle pack - 7977 seabed strider - 8060 Typhoon turbo sub - Some minifigs. (only 2 red cheese slopes from the training outpost were used) Since I acquired the typhoon submarine, I've been willing to design a small fighter using the wings parts just like the Raid VPR. Here is the LITTLE RASCAL! (erm I just found the name...) Let's say the pilot is some kind of space-cowboy/bounty-hunter or whatever word made of two words with a "-" between you think could describe him . But seriously, have you seen the number of machine-guns on this thing? (And there are 2 more beneath each wing!) You can see it here on landing position. The pilot says hi to you, you'd better at least smile to him, you don't want to make him an ennemy, do you? I'm not a big fan of the nose, but as seen on the second pictures, it allows an overall shape of the body that is not so bad. As always, more pics are available on my Brickshelf. I'll be really happy to have some comments . P.S: I would like to create a topic for MOCs made with parts from two or three sets only-I like this kind of challenge a lot- but would you guys participate? Quote
Legostein Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Hello! A nicel looking space craft. One of the first using the new trans-bright-green colours. I like the use of the side-panels. Good function for these large pieces. P.S: I would like to create a topic for MOCs made with parts from two or three sets only-I like this kind of challenge a lot- but would you guys participate? Well, while I like the idea, I consider it problematic also. It is more easy when you use large sets with many pieces than taking a set with only few pieces. I really miss the alternate building examples on the backside of the boxes, and thus I like alternate building. There are numerous threads on this forum dealing with alternate models of certain sets. They're all very inspiring, so I am looking forward on more alternates from you. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
Decale Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 Thank you Christopher I don't see it being "problematic", if it may be easier with bigger sets, it's ok, it's the final design of the MOC which is important, no? Alternate buildings are a nice occupation ( I had tried your alternate version of the street speeder), and it can sometimes make you busy for a long time, for sure, but for me there is always a point where it becomes frustrating because i need more variety in the parts. I like going to a shop, seeing two (sometimes very) different sets and having a mental image of what could be done with them and only them, without touching any other part of my collection. Yeah I think I'll try to create a topic like that and launch my new religion . Don't know where to put it though... Quote
CptMugwash Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 (edited) That's a really nifty little fighter, would look awesome in a bigger moc. Still can't get away from that atlantis colour scheme . As for moc challenges made using sets, there could be loads of different ways to do this. I see where Legostein is coming from 2-3 sets is a bit much but a single set challenge would be better more challenging and one rule could be you can only leave a few parts. SilentMode Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Very nice spaceship, and it's great to see some [more] appreciation for trans neon green. Quote
Baylego Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Nice job with so few parts! I definitely get the Vic Viper feel from this ship. Quote

I see that everywhere on flickr and etc, I understand it's about this kind of shape for spaceships, but I don't know the source of it, am I missing some movie reference or something? Quote

It's the ship from the arcade game Gradius. Quote
Decale Posted February 17, 2011 Author Posted February 17, 2011 (edited) Oh, thanks a lot! I even was capable of actually playing the game Edited February 17, 2011 by Decale Quote
Giovanne Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Nice-looking and with very good design. A bigger variant of it would be good. Quote
