BrickArtist Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Hi everyone! This MOC was inspired by me missing out on a somewhat old and rare set; 'Ultimate Space Battle', which to this day is the only way to get obi-wans Eta-2 Actis-class Light interceptor, also known as the Dk.red ship he flew to rescue the chancellor. Naturally I wanted to do my own rendition. Here 'goes! Thanks for looking, C&C welcome! Quote
simonjedi Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 The solar panel wings look a bit small to me, and it's missing the Astromech. Looks good otherwise, I like the cannons. Quote
Supersonic Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 The guns and the greebles are done well, but I think the wings are too low. Compare them to the official rendition: Otherwise, good work. Quote

Compare them to the official rendition: Otherwise, good work. Thanks sonic. I wouldn't compare to TLGs, as it itself isn't all that accurate. But I do agree after looking at some other reference with that in mind. The solar panel wings look a bit small to me, and it's missing the Astromech. Looks good otherwise, I like the cannons. Yeah they're a bit small, I was sorta at a lack of Dk. Red. I forgot to stick an astro head on there Oops! Edited February 12, 2011 by brickartist Quote
Masked Builder Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Not bad. The wing plating is quite nice, and the guns are quite lovely. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 The panels do look to small, but when folded down they don't bother me as much as the cockpit. I think it sits too high. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Very nice, but I'll join the chorus.....cockpit should be lower set into the wings ! COOL blasters though ! May the brick be with you 'brickartist' ! Quote
Fallenangel Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Though I would agree that the cockpit could be a bit closer to the wings (those guns should line up with the two central panels of the octagonal viewport) I think what's really wrong with the cockpit is that it lacks the "lips" surrounding it that protrude from the wing area. And the wing panels should cover nearly the length of the whole wing. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Nice start brickartist, aside from what the others have pointed out, the thickness of the wings seem to be too uneven to me, as it ranges from 1 to as much as 3 plates thick. I think you should limit it to max. 2 plates (the top plates being the print details of the wings). Quote

I'm not sure how to structure those panels, I may just do a BL order and do them, along with the rest of the model in SNOT. That would look much better. Very nice, but I'll join the chorus.....cockpit should be lower set into the wings ! COOL blasters though ! May the brick be with you 'brickartist' ! In my next version I think i'll rework that whole portion of the design. Though I would agree that the cockpit could be a bit closer to the wings (those guns should line up with the two central panels of the octagonal viewport) I think what's really wrong with the cockpit is that it lacks the "lips" surrounding it that protrude from the wing area. Thanks Fallen, I'm gonna try and cover it all in V2 Nice start brickartist, aside from what the others have pointed out, the thickness of the wings seem to be too uneven to me, as it ranges from 1 to as much as 3 plates thick. I think you should limit it to max. 2 plates (the top plates being the print details of the wings). Yeah, I was wondering if anybody would point that out. The reason is my design, unlike some of my other models, I kinda threw this one together, I didn't plan detail I sorta plopped it on top. In V2 I'll probably sketch it out and what not. Quote
CommanderFox Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 (edited) Nice BrickArtist! The greebles on the wings are nice! And the guns are much better! As Doc said, the cockpit sits a bit high but its okay. Ultimate Space Battle was the one set I wanted bad, I still want it bad, but its too expensive now. Im thinking maybe of getting the parts off BL sometime soon, so may try your version for the guns which I really like. Keep it up! CF Edited February 13, 2011 by CommanderFox Quote
BrickArtist Posted February 13, 2011 Author Posted February 13, 2011 It looks like a chibi fighter. It is a small ship, do you mean that in the sense it's too small? Nice BrickArtist! Fallenangel Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Bump. I found some decent pics of the Revell kit, which is pretty much the only tangible reference I could find as pictures of the full-sized studio mockup are nowhere to be found. With these, I hope you can improve... Top Side, rear Bottom The rest of the gallery Quote

Comparing with the picture in the visual dictionary-I think that models whole proportions may be just slightly off, though. I may have to PM you when I get around to V2(I'm working on like 5 other projects right now ). Edited March 1, 2011 by DobbyClone Quote
