I have a very unique job once the summer rolls around - the head Flagman and a local Dirt race track. I get to do it with my father, which makes it even more fun. It's actually kind of a relaxer for me. 2 or 3 times a year, we get a special class that comes to race - Sprint Cars. They are absolutely awesome to watch and they go ridiculously fast. They run on alcohol instead of fuel. Since they can get up to such high speeds, they have to put wings on the top and front of the cars to keep them on the track.

I have fiddled with multiple designs to make one out of Lego, and here is my current model, along with race trailer and pickup (shown here previously). Most racers can't afford an enclosed trailer, so they bring their car the track with an open trailer, usually home-made:

I am overall happy with the car, although the tough part was making it minifigure compatible, so the driver area is a bit taller than it should be. Here is a photo of a Sprint Car to compare:

And I'll leave you with a photo of me doing what I love to do from last Fall:

Very interesting Sprint Car design legomaniac! This is actually the first time I've seen one and I must say you really captured the overall look quite accurately. I also like your truck and trailer. Very well done!

man I miss mini Sprint racing....the smell of that alcohol burning, the mud, the sound of about 100 cars in the pit all warming up. Let me be the first to commend you on an EXCELLENT job! you really captured it! I love the truck and the fact you can fit a minifig in the car!!

legomaniac83, could you please show the pick up closer, or can you give me the instruction of it?

I like this car :)

Fantastic MOC. Sprint cars are so awesome. I can feel the dirt in my teeth now!

Your truck is sweet. Looks like a standard 1500 truck you can buy today.

Same here Kiel. I wasn't aware of the existence of this particular type of sprint cars and I must say that your creation looks pretty close to the real thing. The pick up truck looks great too and I like the fact that you made it look longer by placing the wheels at that distance from each other - it doesn't look common that way.

The details on the trailer are excellent. You've managed to put all these tools and gear without making it look overloaded and that's definitely a plus.

Very interesting job btw.

Very nice, and instantly recognizable.

As a petrolhead I have seen these before, but I have to admit that most of the time it has been one of those TV shows with crazy amateur videos. They do seem to crash a lot... :)

You're right! Here's a wreck that happened a couple years ago at our track:

She walked away!

Awesome moc! I really like that pickup and trailer. Would you mind sharing the instructions for the truck itself? I failed miserably when I tried to build a 6 stud pickup. Thanks.

WOW! Highly accurate model of an actual sprint car!

Will you be making the Late-model class type pictured on the second actual photo?

I like your pickup truck design, looks like the current model F-series Ford. An American pickup truck is on my next MOC list, yours sparks some new ideas, I plan to make a duallie, such as the Silverado 3500HD.
