Peabo Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Here's a simple brownstone I've been working on, what do you think? Quote
L@go Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 I like it! The colours are nice and work well together, and the design is neat and not too cluttered (which is what I always want to achieve in my own MOCs but never seem to pull off). I'd cut down on the number of lion heads on the top floor - in my opinion, that's a bit over the top. I'd never use more than one in a 32-wide space. Then again, that's just me - but you did ask for opinions :) Quote
Artifex Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 I really like it. The design looks great, and the color scheme works well together - it's just beautiful. I like the "frame" of the windows -- the darker color around them -- and the way the white brings it all out so well. Not sure about the lion heads, although if you are not having other buildings with lion heads around, I'd say it works. Although two to each side may work a little better. I'm curious about the white arcs... Can you please post a pic of that detail? All in all, I guess your building is just great. I love it! Quote
Mumrice Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 (edited) It is great building, but can you show for us interior of this? Murmice Edited February 8, 2011 by Mumrice Quote
LegoFan03 Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Not bad! I like the colors a lot. One thing bother me most: top part. Can you please improve that top part? Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Very nice work 'Peabo', I too feel too many lion heads, two would be enough on such a narrow building. Will it have an interior ? Anyway, great design so far and Brick On 'Peabo' ! Quote
Cancerkitty Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Like others have said, the color scheme is outstanding and there are probably a couple too many lions. I'm not so sure about the yellow window frame either. Otherwise, outstanding job! Quote

I was a bit on the fence about the yellow windows, but I've made up my mind: it brings out the second floor in a way that no other frame color would, I think. Maybe red could add to the overall scheme, but I think yellow fits perfectly. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 This one already looks good Peabo, the 'coffee' color scheme is really very unique and visually pleasing. The overall design is conservative but effective, my only criticism aside from the aforementioned lion heads is that the top arches have some exposed areas, or is that still on the works? Anyway, nice job so far! Quote

Anyway, nice job so far! The top, roof and interior are not done yet. Artifex, the White arc's are the White Vehicle Mudguard's part 62361 All- Thanks for the feedback, I'll try it without the center lion heads and work on the roof and interior then post some more photos. Cavey Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Like the rest mentioned, Very refreshing and nice color scheme, however less or no lion heads for my preference.. I think maybe you can have another level (3rd level) before ending with the roof (dark brown bricks), seems very long from the 2nd level to the roof. However still a WIP so looking forward to see more! Regardless, Great work! Quote
Vincent Kessels Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 That is a great looking building. Good use of color and structure. Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Great modular MOC so far Great choice of colors. Will there be work on the interior? Quote
buddy Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Great work so far! The building's exterior is detailed, looks great and the colours used work well together. Very well done so far. ~buddy~ Quote
Legoless Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 (edited) I like it but I'd repeat what the others said about too many lion's heads and the yellow window frame being a bit 'loud'. It looks interesting juxtaposed against the storage drawers behind- which look a bit like modern glass-fronted office blocks! Good luck- look forward to seeing the final result. Peabo Posted February 17, 2011 Author Posted February 17, 2011 Sorry for the delay, I had company over the weekend and didn't get a chance to build. Here's, what I think is, the final exterior front of the building Image 1 Image 2 Quote
Cancerkitty Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Much improved! This came out well. Quote
