I haven't bought anything for ages, save for some Bricklink orders. But even those must've been 6 months ago. So, this year it isn't much, but last year it was something like 300 Euro I think.

It was...but those topics were created quite a while ago so I can imagine newer members might've missed them.

I started a topic like this in the pirate forum some time ago.

Well, my average monthly spending on Lego is $150.

But this month it was over $500, so I will not be buying much the next months.

definitely, i decided to take this opportunity to evaluate the change in my shopping since a half year ago ;-)

maybe a topic like this should be pinned ??? it seems to be a pretty common discussion.

Way too much. I have gotten away from buying for a while. The last thing I bought was the 10176 King's Castle. I always buy at Shop@Home, because there is no store where I live, and the Targets and regular stores are unreliable. I want the new Y-Wing, AT-ST, and Landing Craft, as well as the Star Destroyer, A-Wing, new X-Wing, and Tie Interceptor.

I've spent about £250 in the last 6 weeks (just returned from dark ages).

I think it's actually a bit excessive.

Seeing the enormous collections some people have, I keep wondering what they spend on LEGO per month.

I have seen the thread about how much a collection is worth, but this is a different question.

So question:

On average how much do you spend per month -or per year- on LEGO?

This year, I'm probably averaging $50 a month or less, and that includes, sets, PAB, resale shops, etc. With my wife in school, I'm spending alot less than last year, or the year before where on average, I probably spent $75-$100 a month.

I had the same question a few years ago and so this year, I decided to track how much I really spend on Lego each month and where I spend it. For the first quarter of this year, I've already spent almost $2400.00 (an average of $800.00 per month), but this month (April) so far, I've already surpassed that average. I know, I've got to slow down...

This year (2009), I've probably spent $150-$200 a month, mainly on BL orders for some projects, four mosaics as presents for friends, and a few other sets. Trust me, it's a lot more than usual (except for last October, but that's another story).

Well, in 2007, I spent only $30 on LEGO.

In 2008, I spent around $80 on LEGO.

This year, I might spend more, since I like LEGO more than I did before.

So far this year, I spent around $50...but I'll probably spend at least $20 a month.

EDIT: I wonder how much money mutley spends on LEGO...

EDIT II: I'm probably going to spend at least $300 on LEGO this year... a lot less compared to others (but I'm not an AFOL  ).

LOL! About 5 dollars every few weeks or so, 10-15 when I'm feelin' good. I usually let the relatives do the big buying for Christmas, Birthdays etc.

Apologies.

Oh boy.....

Is there still anything in your collection that you don't have? I mean, if you have spent so much, assuming since some years, you must have everything.

What do you spend it on?

And why?

Is it an obsession?

Obsession?... not really. I tell friends and relatives that my Lego collecting in not just a hobby, but also my passion. Believe me, my collection is far from being complete. Some people invest in stocks, real estate, etc-etc. Let's just say I invest in Lego. I do buy multiple sets and always keep at least 1 mint in box and open 1 or 2 to display. I've been collecting since 1991 but noticed about 4-5 years ago that I was spending way too much on Lego. Unfortunately, it's only this year that I really started keeping tab on my spending. My guestimate of $5-7k a year spent on this hobby for the past 3-4 years.

Impressive... Fascinating...

Always interesting to hear people talk about their passion.

I guess you're living the dream.

I'm pretty sure there are other folks out there who've a more interesting Lego collection. More passionate in their collecting with an impressive collection. Now that is fascinating and living the dream. As for me, I just live, one day at a time...
