-zenn Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) Well, my girl wanted a 'devilish' looking hot rod, so here it is... El Diablo, a mean lean dirty devil machine. A hot rod inspired by 'Rama Lama Ding Dong by The Boppers' and 'DÃa de los Muertos'. Also created for LugNuts 40th build challenge 'for the ladies'. Flickr Gallery Comments and criticism welcome. Brickdoctor Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Great job! The shape and details are perfect, and I really like your design for the skull. Quote
Tobbe Arnesson Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 W O W ! The only thing that ain't perfect is the fact that "The Boppers" apparently have spread outside of Sweden. Seriously thou, that car is stunning! Full of so many great details! First MOC I've felt compelled to replicate in a long time! How did you connect the chain links (what a neat idea) and how is the tank built? Quote
buddy Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Excellent MOC! You've used some great techniques. I too particularly like the shape and details of it. Extremely well done. ~buddy~ Quote

How did you connect the chain links (what a neat idea) and how is the tank built? Thanks, I want their '25 years cd', but haven't got a creditcard though. Well, the chain slides over a plate with a clip. And the tank is made of two round bricks with a technic pin inside and a wrench stuck in sideways; that way the handle acts as a pin, which I stuck in a technic brick for stability. Quote
L@go Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 It's just about the most advanced design I've seen that is simultaneously so small and so simple. Gorgeous! I especially love that skull... and the fuel tank. And the exhaust pipes. And that engine block! And... :) Does it seat a minifig, or do those hammers inserted sideways intrude too much? Quote
Sisco Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Mmmm... That's a mighty fine engine block... The rest is great, too! I love the fuel tank strapped to the back, and the color scheme is very nice... My expertise on Hot Rods is limited, but is it supposed to only seat one? Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Sweet Rat Rod Zenn! Love the engine! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Looks like your girl got what she wanted with this smokin' hot Hot Rod! Fantastic detailing overall, especially on the engines and that unique skull front bumper. Awesome job -zenn! Quote

Thanks a lot all! I actually cut the ends of the hammers, so a fig does fit. Quote

WhiteFang Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Thanks for the blog on Classic-Town. I was about to drop a note to let you know that our new Classic-Town.net blogger, Ricecracker has blogged your nice MOC. Quote
-zenn Posted February 6, 2011 Author Posted February 6, 2011 I'm a little slow. Haha, no problem. Classic-Town is in my 'daily-follow-favorite-blogs-list' routine. Quote
Tazmaniac Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Great hot-rod ! I love the fact you've added the ram tubes to the down draught weber.... or are they SU's? Quote
-zenn Posted February 13, 2011 Author Posted February 13, 2011 Great hot-rod ! I love the fact you've added the ram tubes to the down draught weber.... or are they SU's? Thanks... But I don't understand what you're saying. *lol* I guess you're talking about the carb; that technic piece is actually cut, and than I glued two studs from (part 2433) to it. Quote
