Okay, so it's easy enough if I'm looking for a particular LEGO set, minifigure, specific part, etc. eBay, BrickLink, whatever. What is the easiest/most effective way to buy mixed lots of specific series? Basically, I want mixed lots (pieces and minifigs) of Pirates II. Suggestions?

Well, if the items you are looking for are remotely rare, bricklink is not the answer. They'll eat you up in the wallet before you can say "That price is ridiculous!". However for more common items, Bl can be a great way to stock up. You really have to surf the net to find a fantastic deal. Every once and a while ebay has fantastic deals, I bought 15 new condition old-style dragon knights, with all weapons and feathers for 19 dollars. You may want to trade as well, if you have a theme you used to like, try and find somebody who likes that one and has pirates stuff. :classic:

ebay is a pretty good source. If possible, follow a few tips:

1) use paypal. If you get ripped off, you can file a complaint and either get your money back or problem resolved.

2) Check shipping! The price of some shipping can get really high. Most popular on B.I.N. lots.

3) try your best to only buy items that have a return policy. Yea even if you use paypal(like I do), it's better to try and get one w/ a return policy and avoid potential problems.

4) you will need to be a little patient.

and 5) if you need to ask the seller a question, be polite. Speaking from experience, it will get you far in the world of eBay.
