snefroe Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 this atat looks like mindstorms atat to me... at least r2d2 has lots of parts... g... these ucs sets used to be the best of the best: lots of parts, great designs, something you could actually show family and friends without being laughed at, but it seems the regular sets are a lot better these days. UCS has become a dustbin for every idea for a model the lego designers have come up with... Quote
Jipay Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Ok guys, Steve reported that the AT AT should normaly include some minifigs (probably a pilot and luke) are lego staff likely to read the forums as people here and on fbtb don't seem to impressed with the options Yes, they are aware of those polls and the reactions aswell Quote
Vader Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Yep there aware but i doubt it will make much difference :'-( Quote
sam89 Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Hopefully it will. If they know that most people only voted for their choice because they thought it was better than the others, and didn't actually want it, you'd think they would scrap the idea. But also, if they were going to ask about sets that featured in the last poll (FX-6, Vulture Droid and R2-D2), why didn't they ask about the Speeder Bike? (which also featured in the last poll). Here's a pics of one from the 1999 LEGO Magazine: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=287359 That would have definitely won, IMO. Quote
Deinonychus Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 My only theory on this is that LEGO is trying to get a feel from casual Star Wars fans as to what sets they'd like and not so much people who normally buy LEGO sets. Otherwise the choices make no sense. A pair of droids, a "Frankenstein's Monster" between the System AT-AT and the Mindstorm version, and the rather boring Vulture Droid/Starfighter...there has to be some unseen logic beneath this because there's no obvious logic :-P All this tells me for sure is that there's no chance in Hell we'll ever get UCS versions of the Assault Gunboat or a Yuuzhan Vong Coralskipper Quote
oo7 Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 All this tells me for sure is that there's no chance in Hell we'll ever get UCS versions of the Assault Gunboat or a Yuuzhan Vong Coralskipper Is this good or bad? I hate all this "Expanded Universe" crap :-| (I had to Google these ships after I read this post) but a ship to play with might not be so bad except it might not sell as good becuase most people know more what a vulture droid or R2-D2 or and AT-AT is more than a "EU" ship. snefroe Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Lool yeay Sne but that was not a loss at all :-D !! *yoda* are you sure, yoda? i mean , did you really take a good look at the current options? i mean, a good look, yoda? Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 7, 2006 Author Posted June 7, 2006 I did and they are horrible Sne :-X I just didn't want a PT UCS |-/ However, judging from the brilliant AT-ST, there is still hope :-P *yoda* Quote
Beagle Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Gahhh, that godawful electronic AT-AT is winning!!! What the.....??? I know they're not the greatest choices, but c'mon, that's the WORST of them. I would have liked the R2.... but that doesn't look like it's gonna happen. Quote
Legoman Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 NOOOO how could they i mean those choices SUCK i cant get over it lego staff if your are reading this get rid of those stupid so called "sets" and that atat i would have thought Lego knew ucs ment so if you dont know what a ucs set is it is something TO BIG FOR MINIFIGS (within reason like the isd and dsII were great) gosh i would have thought at least Lego knew what ucs ment *wacko* . i mean R2 isnt that bad but come on robotic ATAT :-X , fx-6 :-X man . well at least we can look forward to that awsome ucs ATST *y* Quote
Jipay Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 what a pain to read such comments... UCS is something too big for minifigs ??? Really ? the ISD would be way too small for a MF... Quote
Legoman Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 well you know what i mean a ucs atat should not come with minifigs *wacko* P.S i have edited my previous post to be more fair Quote
Merkel Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 I don't know about you guys, but the Vuture looks great, and the dynamics of how it transforms should be pretty interesting. From the Expanded Universe, I would love to see Virago. Quote
sam89 Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Here's pics of a version someone has made of the R2-D2 , since apparently the model has been around since about 1999. It's almost identical to the one on SW.com: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=152824 I think it looks awesome, and I'd actually quite like LEGO to release this. Quote

Forget that...howabout they release that Super Star Destroyer...I can save up for one! *wub* Quote
Andrex Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 I am 100% for the FX-6, something I've personally wanted for some time. I don't really like the AT-AT redesign, I prefer the original to be honest, but never mind, it is a nice idea. The R2-D2 looks gorgeous but as I said, I LOVE the FX-6, so much detail, and it is just such a great concept! OH, and Sam89, it seems really common now for Lego to use ideas off Brickshelf, for example the Sandcrawler etc. I think they get inspiration from the fans, or they contact them and ask if they can use the design. Quote
Beagle Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 If they release a UCS R2, I want there to be a little Lego Kenny Baker inside. Quote
Lord Thrawn Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Ah, but then they'd have to put in some of the, uh, questionable images of women he had under the dome too. so perhaps not a great idea... :-P I voted for the med-droid. Very detailed. Quote
snefroe Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 I think the result is quite clear though: a majority wants other options for a new UCS... Let's hope that's also lego's conclusion... Quote
Unknown Artist Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Ummm, I'm not a fan of any of the sets listed - IMO, a nice, minifig scale AT-AT (in REAL minifig scale, not the system one) would be much better that the electronic one... Sorry, Lego Group, you won't get UA's blessing on aby of these... *sing* Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 R2-D2 = Blocky crap. Nice source of white. Vulture Droid Starfighter - Looks "common", how all those episode 1-3 ships all look the same). Electronic AT-AT walker (with 2 MF) - GET this UNFINISHED turd away from me. RX-6 - ...maybe. Maybe. Lots of nice little parts, But still, hardly a masterpiece of a statue. None of the above. Quote
babyjawa Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 I totally agree with the two posts above mine. None of the options are really that great. Quote
