Alywin Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Hi, all. I had the honour to join the local AFOL LEGO show in Hong Kong, Bricks Adventure 2011, this year again. To participate, I have built this Fantasy Farm to join the city area of the show. As named, this farm is just out of my own fantasy and not really up to the reality level of the farms we see in daily life. This is because, due to my various limitations including skills, time and brick resources, I can only manage to build small unrealistic buildings. The only way I can think of to make a small contribution to the show is by merging my small creations to make up this Fantasy Farm. The farm covers an area of 160x64 studs (equal to 10 32x32 baseplates) and consists of my 4 MOC farm buildings, namely the Windmill, the Cow Shed, the Greenhouse and the Farm House with Pig Shed. These 4 MOCs are of the old-school style with the back side open, but incorporated with some uses of modern parts and building techniques. The Farm House with Pig Shed is actually a substantial rebuild of my previous MOC, the Pig Farm. Also, to enrich the overall view, I have also added the small open crop field as well as other facilities. Special thanks to andybear@hk and PrinceWilliam, who are the key men for the city area of this show. They have allowed great freedom and flexibility for us to join the city area show. andybear@hk also provided me with tremendous support on parts to enable me to finish the overall view of the farm. I will show photos of the overall view of my Fantasy Farm first, supplemented by a few for each of my 4 farm building MOCs. [Warning: Pictures heavy, though photos have been resized already] As usual, your comments and critics are highly appreciated. Thanks for watching. Alywin Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 Superb job, Alywin. So many great details. :classic: Thanks. 'Alywin'.....one word....AWESOME ! The mill, dairy and green house are just too much, excellent detailing and design.....oh, is that TNT truck yours too.....that's actually my favorite part.....but just ! Keep up the AWESOME work and Brick On 'Alywin' ! Thanks for your praise. However, to clarify, I just built all the things in the farm within that 160x64 area which is situated in a much larger city area with other AFOL showing their excellent MOCs. The TNT truck is made by another superior AFOL. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Ouch, 160 studs wide.....that's a lot of base plates ! I forgot about the piggery there, nice too ! Brick On 'Alywin' ! Quote
L@go Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 It's all great - but that windmill is gorgeous. Wonderful colours, wonderful detailing! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 AMAZING. What a stunningly beautiful fantasy farm display, those are simply wonderful builds, each with its own very unique design and interesting details. Extremely impressive job Alywin! Quote

WhiteFang Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Looks real great and sparse with the 4 iconic buildings placed altogether. This is now featured in, Quote
Alywin Posted January 31, 2011 Author Posted January 31, 2011 Thanks for everyone's appreciation. During my journey to build the 4 small farm buildings, I tried to use different parts and structures, functionalities and decorations so that they can be taken as an individual MOC which can stand out independently, but at the same time can show harmony when gathered together with some simple background settings. I myself remain undecided as to which one is my own favorite.... Nowadays, many people promote giant MOC with complex setup. In view of the above trend, I have been doubting if small houses and simple setup could still make up something not too bad from MOC perspective... Now at least I know there are still some LEGO town fans fond of small houses and simple setup. This is sufficiently meaningful to me already. Quote
Vindice Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Beautiful set up and great photography. Well done. Quote
Fires-storm Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 This is a simply brilliant and beautiful set up mate! One of my favorite details is the beautiful curve that you put on the farm house roof, as well as that beauty of a greenhouse! Good wrok mate, and definitely keep brickin'! Quote
buddy Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) Outstanding MOC! All of the building are well built and highly detailed. Extremely well done. ~buddy~ Edited February 2, 2011 by buddy Quote
