Hi,

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I couldn't find it anywhere else.

My question is does every series of collectible minifig have a 'flagship'? I know the clown in series 1 was advertised as the main minifig by TLG, but what about the others?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the main figs have been:

Series 1:

Circus Clown

Series 2:

Karate Man/Spartan?

Series 3:

Elf

Are these just wanted more by the community, or official 'best' figs?

Thanks.

I'm not sure. I thought that the "best" fig of series 2 was spartan.

But its possible that fans think spartan is best fig and TLG thinks that Karate master is best.

How do you figure?

Maybe the one in the middle of the group shot on the bag? I seem to recall for series 1, Lego did a poll on their website and the ninja was the most popular.

I don't have a S1 bag on hand to check at the moment, but the Elf is not one of the middle two for S3. S2 is the Karate Master and Spartan; S3 is the Rapper and Alien.

I suspect the answer to your question is no, they don't have a 'flagship' minifig and any perception of 'better' figures is entirely down to individual taste. For example, I still think the S1 Zombie has been the best so far (though the Hazmat guy in S4 may sway that somewhat).

What about the clown in series 1? That was much more prominent in TLG's advertising.

I always thought that the zombie and cheerleader were the two biggest/most anticipated figs in series one. I figured the clown was filler like the crash test dummy and diver.

Just my thoughts. There is no right or wrong answer.

Ahab out...

And yet he doesn't even appear on the Series 1 packet. Hardly 'flagship' status is it? The prominence in the banner image of all figs may just have been down to colour balance or even just the artist's preference for the clown. I don't think there is any more to read into it than that.

I suppose. Thanks for your reply

But what about the boxes they are been sold in (or just the complete box).

For series 1 you can clearly see the Spaceman and Clown on the flap.

And those are both the biggest and standing in the middle.

For series 2 it's the Karate Guy that standsout a little more forwards.

Then the Elf and Rapper for series 3 and I'm wondering what minifig it would be for series 4 (and 5)

I don't think that there are any 'flagship' figs for this line. I do think that LEGO intentionally made some of the more sought after figs hard to find though. I suspect that LEGO felt that by making the Clown, Cheerleader, Spartan, and Elf hard to find, folks would spend more money trying to collect them. I won't be surprised if the Muskateer and the guy in the Radioactive costume are hard to find for series 4.
