lightningtiger Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Here we go again the start of a new creation.....a mega W-I-P.....this morning I fueled up at Woolworths Caltex and decided to build a small one and then add the diner, toilets/shower block, etc.,. Yep, there will be stickering and that 4x3 space in light bluey grey is for a drinks fridge to be designed yet. Once this shop is done I can start on the driveway and it's petrol, gas and diesel pumps too ! Comments and suggestions very welcome and keep on watching ! Quote
Fuzzylegobricks Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Wow Great One! I love the paying booth! Quote
AussieJimbo Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Good to see another building on the go, LT. I'm sure this will be another great addition. :classic: Quote
jonwil Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Great start, I can already picture this looking like the roadhouses I saw all across the Nullabor Plain a few years ago when I crossed it in a car :) Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 27, 2011 Author Posted January 27, 2011 Thanks 'jonwil', 'AussieJimbo' and 'Fuzzylegobricks' for your kind words ......tomorrow I'll finish the drinks fridge and register screen.....oh, yeah merchandise......more stickers ! The blank space along side the shop will be the toilet block and once that's done I can start on the driveway......and man, that will have a high roof ! Keep on watching for the next update ! Quote
HeLena Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 (edited) lightningtiger, I think that's a good idea to make such a creation :) I'm sure this one will be popular among EB members like your other MOCs! And stickers will be cool as well! I'll use your clue phrase: I'm a conformist! © :) Edited January 27, 2011 by HeLena Quote
SilentMode Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 That's an awesome dinky little shop! I like the impression of "blinds" at the front (if that's what they are!). Quote
Fuzzylegobricks Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I bet The Total Cost For sticker in your town per year is like $50-$60! That is fine if you have a GREAT city. Cant Wait to see more. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 27, 2011 Author Posted January 27, 2011 Thanks 'SilentMode', 'HeLena' for your kind comments , and again 'Fuzzylegobricks' for a cheeky comment......it's more like $100 to $150 per year...there are always printer boo-boo's ! Have no fear, updates will appear within the next 6 hours.....so keep on watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 Update time....... More updates later on......keep on commenting.....keep on watching ! Quote
dr_spock Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I see you've taken fire safety into consideration and window washer. Keep up the good work in detailing. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 Thanks 'dr_spock' for your comments, the pump isn't finished yet and there is more work to be done to the driveway. Keep on watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 Now a mini-W-I-P....the drinks fridge.... Any suggestions very welcome......keep on watching ! Quote
jonwil Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Make sure you have a coffee machine in there somewhere (with a big sign above it saying "truck driver coffee here"). Every roadhouse across the Nullabor Plain seems to spend big $$$ attracting business from truckies with cheap food, cheap/free coffee etc (probably because truck drivers tend to be repeat customers) Quote

Keep on watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 Now I'll be updating later with more work done to the driveway, but suggestions for the diner I need (hopefully Aussie based ideas).....so please suggest away......updates like I said later today. Keep on watching ! Quote
jonwil Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Some things I have seen at Roadhouses: CDs/cassettes (so people have something to listen to during the long drives through areas with no radio reception) Snacks (chips, chocolate bars, ice-creams etc) Oil, engine coolant and other motoring supplies Newspapers and magazines Lots of fattening food like burgers, chips etc Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 29, 2011 Author Posted January 29, 2011 Thanks 'jonwil' for your ideas, now updates....... Brick On Everyone ! Quote
sens1992 Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Hey Lightningtiger, nice gas station here but your BP gas station better adjust its prices lol! Good job so far. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 29, 2011 Author Posted January 29, 2011 Thanks 'sens1992' for your kind comments, oh and the BP....that's gone - parts of which are in the driveway....just look at the pumps ? More updates tomorrow.....so keep on watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 Wow Great Update Tiger! Thanks 'Fuzzylegobricks' for that kind comment , tomorrow it will be the attack of the 2x2 tiles, as I pave sections of this base plate, for at least the pumps and shop.....must start on stock this week too ! Any ideas for an Aussie style diner anyone ? Keep on watching ! Quote
fluffybunny Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I'm not so familiar with the Aussie style but the gas station looks great so far. Cant wait to see what you do with the interior of the shop and stocking products. Great job so far!! Quote

Thanks for the comments 'fluffybunny' , I'll be back working on this today like I said.....the dinner area is a little worry for me....I'll try a few designs out first to see if I like the look of them ! Keep on watching everyone ! Quote
Fuzzylegobricks Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I say A good ol outback diner would be one that has Kangaroo crossing signs and some Dark reddish Rocks next to the diner with a telephone line going above the scene. Hope that made sense! Look at Uluru pictures to see what I meant by the rocks! Quote
