Yatkuu Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Unless you have been living in a tree for the past few months you probably all know that 2011 is going to be a Pirate Lego year… more precisely a Caribbean Pirate year ! In the same spirit that lead me in building a MOC on the filming set of “A New hope”, I have decided to pay a tribute to the origins of the POTC saga… My dear fellow EB members, I present you my diorama of the Disney POTC ride! The dio features several of the iconic scenes from the ride…starting with the sale of the women… (one of these ladies seems to be strangely enjoying the situation…) On the other side we can see the famous well scene. Please note that I have used a floor technique that was – I think – developed here It is a very useful technique when dealing with rounded floor shapes and it gives an great irregular look. Another view Now the bridge (I'm really happy with this one!) … The other side… where we can see a young lady running to save her… innocence! … and 2 pirates loading a boat with their loot Now a close-up of the visitor’s boat And an overall view. Finally a couple of reference pics Future will tell us if the new POTC license lives up to the fan’s expectations… in the meantime I hope you’ve liked this MOC, thanks for watching! (Oh, and if you have enjoyed this you might also like my Harry Potter MOC for the winter break contest, check it out here!) Quote
Stacy_ToT-LUG Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Wow! I love this ride and seeing it in LEGO is amazing. You really captured the details well, right down to the expressions on the minifigs' faces. Excellent work! ~Stacy Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Very nice! Even though I've never ridden the ride or seen PotC, I love all the little details and techniques you've used to capture this scene. I also notice your Disney boat says LEGOLAND on it - love that too. Quote
Skalldyr Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Well done with all those details! I'm just developing a complet (and working) PotC ride.....but since I have a lot to do in RL and with my current Brickfilm project....I think it will take some time since the water-ride will be finished. BrickPerfection Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Very interesting idea for a MOC, especially with the PotC theme coming up! Maybe you should have used some blue tiles and transparent cheese slopes for the water. I like it though. Quote
Yatkuu Posted January 27, 2011 Author Posted January 27, 2011 Thank you all for your nice comments! I also notice your Disney boat says LEGOLAND on it - love that too. Thanks for noticing! I actually made the visitor boat in yellow just to include the Legoland brick! I'm just developing a complet (and working) PotC ride..... a complete and functional POTC ride? wow, good luck with your project! When I started this MOC I quickly realized that the scale of the visitor boat would define the rest, how large will be yours? Maybe you should have used some blue tiles and transparent cheese slopes for the water. I did not do it for 2 reasosn - first I don't have any blue tiles or transparent chees slopes and second the original POTC ride is actually very dark and the water appears just black... Quote

When I started this MOC I quickly realized that the scale of the visitor boat would define the rest, how large will be yours? Well I would use either the normel Lego boats or the Belville boats... [i prefer the last one because they are more accurate.] ....wich will effect the size... (I'm thankful for any tips how to get the boats floating on water)...but something around 1x1,5 meter or a bit more...... Quote
