Mr Spielbrick Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Mystery bags... Hm... Increase profits, they do. Yes... Don't really see the fun of it myself, but oh well. If that's the way to score all those figs, here I go. 'Cause I'm not aware of any Bricklink-like site dedicated to Character Building. (Well, there's eBay, I suppose.) @Peppermint_M I'm uptight the other way 'round. I buy clone brands if necessary, but never customs. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Plastic building toys in a mystery bag is such an unoriginal idea... Quote
brickmack Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 They look interesting, but personally I will be waiting for LEGO to make some sets (or if they don't, which is more likely, wait for them to come out with some torso parts that I really like for the doctor, and make the hair part I want to use for Amy in red, then make MOCs). Too bad LEGO will probably never make any DW sets... Quote
Lasse D Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 (edited) If asked nicely, some of our residential cube dude experts might be able to build the doctors in LEGO. This way you don't have to "cheat on Lego" There are lots of Tardises and Darleks on brickshelf and MOCPages, and what else would you really want from Dr. Who? (apart from K9, Cybermen and other non-main characters) Edited February 3, 2011 by Lasse D Quote
Peppermint_M Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 I'll be borrowing the TARDIS design from the Character set and using the parts and Cybermen, Silurian and any other alien heads for custom figures. I respect those who think they need to stay "loyal" to Lego, but I prefer to shop around to get what I want from themes. Lego won't turn a profit on Doctor Who, Character are already making a healthy turnover on their action figures and playsets, so brick built playsets and figures are going to do great. Quote
Plastic Nurak Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Please tell me I'm not a monster!! No, you're a Dalek ! About the non profit outside of the UK. In the spring of 1980 (the year I was born !) RAI 1 (first channel of Italian public television company) aired a DW series with Tom Baker as the doctor, in "access prime time" slot, and it was successful (who then was kid now remembers it very well and with pleasure). But despite its success among the young fans, at the beginning of the new fall season, RAI never aired other DW series, nobody knows why. Despite the then lack of ads interruptions into the programs aired in public channels (now it's different ), there were commercial clusters both before and after the show, so if a series had success, it was considered commercially profitable. So, why they interrupted the show ? Quote
tedbeard Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 So, available sometime around Easter but online where exactly? Or is some enterprising Brit willing to ship to us Dr Who fans here in Canada for a nominal fee? Quote
Ceroknight Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 So, available sometime around Easter but online where exactly? Or is some enterprising Brit willing to ship to us Dr Who fans here in Canada for a nominal fee? I'm with you on this.. If they are available in March, its whole different story, I'll make sure to get enough for other who are willing buy some during my trip to Europe... Quote
Peppermint_M Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 They will launch when the series starts once more. I can confidently predict that many a Bricklink seller based in the UK will suddenly come into a nice lot of "custom" Doctor who items for the discerning customer. I will need to check on the cost and where I can get them before I can even suggest the trade in contraband. Quote
