dr_spock Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Greetings. This is a MOC I started last summer after my review of the Space Shuttle Adventure: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=45009&hl=shuttle%20adventure&st=0 I think more could be done with the launch pad included with the set. So I started some test builds. After a long work break, I finally got the brick order and time to finish it. :) Without further adieu, I present my Space Shuttle Crawler Transporter with Mobile Launch Platform (MLP). I tried to keep it small and simple in a Classic Town kind of way. The MLP is 30 stud wide, just a tad smaller than a standard base plate. It'll fit on my town display shelf. Right side: Left side: Back side: Crawler transporter with MLP: Crawler transporter: Last summer's test build: The real thing: Quote
lcs Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 That is really awesome! Great addition to a great set. Quote
prateek Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Great job. I really like that multicoloured one Quote
Tereglith Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Nice one! Building one of these has been at the back of my head, and I kept wondering when somebody was going to do one. You did a really great job capturing that classic town feel, especially, with the little guy driving. It looks like the set LEGO would release if they made the crawler back then! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Very well done dr_spock! It's nice to see you pushed through with the project considering you started with that rainbow-colored prototype. I must say it looks really accurate to the real thing and the you really captured the overall shape well. The only thing I would suggest is if you could add some greebling details at the side like in the real one. Other than that, good job! Quote
buddy Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Excellent MOC! It looks just like the real thing and is a great addition to the set. Extremely well done. ~buddy~ Quote
Fistach Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 (edited) I think you didn't catch enough details. It's too simple and definitely too small for such a big shuttle and it's too simple if you compare it to the shuttle. I like the idea! Edited January 16, 2011 by Fistach Quote
Pinky Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Wicked work, Im going to try and make a similar one later today Thanks pinky Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Excellent designing there 'dr spock', but the multicoloured one makes want to sing 'Hello world there is a song we are singing......come one get happy' ! Fantastic launch/transport bed and totally Brick On ;dr spock' ! Quote
MrBeaver Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 (edited) I think you didn't catch enough details. It's too simple and definitely too small for such a big shuttle and it's too simple if you compare it to the shuttle. Even though it's not a scale model with much detail as many MOCs are, it shows how you can modify your set making it look complete and without spending a huge amount of bricks. Great work! I'll rip your idea when I get this set if you don't mind, dr_spock Edited January 16, 2011 by MrBeaver Quote
Teazza Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Hi, I like the idea, me too I've made one of it! you can find it here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/240250 Very good the colored version! Quote
Tobbe Arnesson Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 LOL:ed at the multicolored version! Hi, I like the idea, me too I've made one of it! you can find it here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/240250 Great MOC! If I had the time I would build one for the 8480 Space Shuttle, that would be really impressive! Quote
Teazza Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 LOL:ed at the multicolored version! Great MOC! If I had the time I would build one for the 8480 Space Shuttle, that would be really impressive! You're right, for the 8480 it will be huge! think that mine is approximate 40*48 studs and 15 bricks high, for 8480 it should be quite the double! But using the technic style (empty spaces and no panels) it is possible! If you start this project let us informed! bye Quote
dr_spock Posted January 19, 2011 Author Posted January 19, 2011 Thank you all for your feedback and comments. The multicoloured test version is certainly prettier than the drab grey/bley. Nice MOC, Teazza. You have me thinking about doing a classic tower. Cheers. Quote
